Hi Guys

I have just collected my new Mizuno JPX800 clubs (Driver, Hybrid and Irons) and am going to play first time with them on saturday, everyone I have spoken to has said that I am going to really going to struggle the first couple of time but I'm not sure, when i fit them in the store everything felt really good and I actually found them easier to fit then my old Taylormade superlaunch clubs.

So my question is should i go out on saturday expecting to hit more duffs and tops or will it normal to a degree.

Unless you're swinging like an octopus stuck in a gin trap, you will be fine.

Depnding how the lofts compare to your old irons, distances may need tweaking but nothing too severe I wouldn't have thought.

On a side note. I wonder what shade of green Aztec will be when he reads your thread

I would have thought there'd be a few duffs, but hopefully you take to them quickly! I've not got a new set for about 6 yrs and back then I hardly played, so no real comparison!

I have seen a couple of his post about Mizuno, wonder if he has seen the new mizuno shoes (catalogue in iron box for 2012) look really nice don't have the funny heal anymore.

:D

No envy here, honest guv! I have the JPX's I want/need. I wouldn't say no to the irons, but my 57's do a good job and I think I'd go for the 59's if/when I upgrade (or whatever sexy looking thing they have when I come to upgrade which probably won't be until I'm 30 in a few years :()

As has been said, you shouldn't have a problem mate - don't go out thinking you're going to top/fat/thin/shank everything. Nothing worse than a negative mindset on the golf course!

EDIT: and having just got the driver and hybird myself and having owned the 3 wood for nearly a year, you've definitely made a good choice. Absolutely brilliant sticks.

golf is 10% mental and 90% mental so anything could happen... However... No you should/will not hit more duffs or anything like that, dont even put that in your mind.

You may hit some through the back of the green or some short as you will not know your yardages but you will be fine.

Grats for picking the best iron brand on the planet though... very wise of you!!

Good luck with the JPX irons. I have had mine for a year now and can't fault them.

May take a while to adjust to the yardages. I found everything was going a bit longer than my previous irons due to the strong lofts and the fact the ball comes out of the face a bit faster.

I think the simple advice is don't expect too much and certainly don't try and hit them too hard. I got my R11's as soon as the pro shop opened and was on the 1st tee ten minutes later. Hit them ok for a first outing but a lot of the bad shots was new clubitis and trying too much. If you've hit them before you bought them and know you like them, enjoy the thrill of having new bats and just enjoy the round. If it goes wrong the range for a getting to know you session will sort you out

Well first round with the JPX and went ok after a while front nine was 60 but back nine shot 49 :) so all in all went ok.

Only issue is i have started to slice nearly every shot. Everything starts on target and then around the top of the flight it moves to the right.

Not sure what is happening could this be swing path?
