So i took advantage of AG sale an ordered myself a set of Ping I E1 irons 3-UW which at just over £64 per club is a reyt bargain.

I now have the long wait until mid January until i potentially take delivery as Ping do not return until after the new year damn these places with proper holiday breaks lol

Lovely, I love Ping

Just took delivery of my ping g irons 4-pw,ordered a gap wedge aswell. I was fitted for them, and had my first round with them today.Struggled as they are 3/4 inch longer than my last set. Although I did crack a couple of 4irons, just have to persevere with them

And your point is?manufacturers bring out new clubs every 6 months or so, be it drivers, hybrids or irons.I was custom fitted for the g irons, I tried several makes with different shafts and the best results were found to be the g irons. The newest out is not necessarily the best

Totally correct, an iron change every 6 month is just a badge change no performance enhancement unless the previous model was poor. The g's are great irons enjoy them, until you wear a hole in them!

More often than not people who constantly change their irons don't have a game. I shall now put on my coat and leave this forum room having chucked in a verbal grenade ... and watch the fall out.

my point is that a set of clubs have been purchased when in a month or two the new model will be out making the current model even cheaper. so not only have you potentially spent £200 more than what you needed, the new model might be even better and better for your game.

And then in two months time another manufacturer will bring a set out, and then a couple of months after that...............and so on. You have to buy them when you need/want them. If you keep on waiting you'll never get any.

I'm not on about other manufacturers. there's 18 months to two years between ping cycles.

would you pay top dollar for a Ford fiesta when their new model is out in a month or two.?

To be honest I don't think they will be that much cheaper anyway. £450 for 4-PW. They wont be knocking much of that price once the new ones are released. Considering you are sill looking around £400 for the G30s

Pretty condescending post. Ping historically do not slash prices and despite bringing out new models always keep the previous seasons model on offer for a good period of time.

You will not suddenly get a set of new Ping G series or ie irons for £250. That is fact.

hows it a Condescending post. simply saying the purchase was made at the worst time. as someone who has owned every "i" series iron since the i15 i can say with certainty that the price drops from around £600 for 7 clubs to around £300/£350. if that doesn't bother you then that's fine. its not my money

Ie series are still £680. They're due to be replaced.
G30 are £489 based on 7 irons.

You need to go back at least two years to get any value on Ping irons being vastly reduced. Karsten series irons are £429 and G25 are £389. Both of these older models are being offered at 45% discount.

To suggest that by waiting till February March for the newer Ping models to be released you will get a 50% + discount is fabricated to say the least.

Let the man enjoy his new irons without poo pooing his thread. Ping are historically not instant discounters to shift old stock unlike other manufacturers.

Opinions opinions,as someone pointed out ping g30 are retailing at £450 so I can't see the g iron being £300.I know what your saying "Hovis"but who's to say these new pings would be good for me? Not every set of irons will suit

OK so i paid 449.99 for 4-PW AG had slashed their price as it was 699.99 pre sale which works out to around £64 per club. I wanted a set that gave me 3-UW and they gave me the additional 2 clubs for £64 each.

Yes they may well be replaced but that doesn't make them a bad club. IMO i feel have got myself a bargain as this is how much they are going for on ebay second hand in good condition which won't then be custom fitted etc

Oh and Jacko_G i'm not a man just find mens clubs suit me better :D

Well said. Ping DO NOT drop prices significantly when a new model is released and you will not find a set of the current I model for £350 anywhere for a long time to come. I don't think retailers are allowed to offer huge discounts without Ping say so are they?

Taylormade on the other hand. My RSi2's would have been £800, but waited until the new model came out, and got them for £350.
