Hi Guys

Been thinking of getting new irons. I have had my titleist AP2 irons since march 2008 and have been looking at changing them for the Titleist CB irons but with Tour Loft which is 2 degrees stronger. Also changing my 3 vokey wedges aswell which i only had for 2 years but i would have to get the lofts changed on my wedges aswell to tie in with the new irons lofts tho. unsure yet

Thing is tho i dont carry any other woods apart from my driver. Just cause i dont seem to hit them well or need them very often. I would of liked to get a 2iron to match my irons but they dont make them.

Reason am unsure is cause i played so well last year with my irons and wedges but cause am in the middle of a complete swing change over winter i would like a new set to go with the new swing :D

Any thoughts on the CB irons?

yep i wouldnt change anything, although i know everyone says it but some lessons throughout next year may help you get further down. scratch ooooooooo hhhhhhhhhh. a pro might say bring a 4 wood into your set. imo. pretty obvious that you are already a very good golfer  i would try this next season then if you really need shiny shiny get custom fitted

I did exactly the same change, AP2's to CB's, and I love them.
Cant say I noticed any difference in all honesty, except during March/April this year when I got them, as anything slightly thin did sting a bit ! However, off 3, I dont think you're gonna do that. I havent come down this year, but I dont think I can blame the irons for that, they can and do pull off some amazing shots for me on a regular basis, and I'm sure its my swing that causes the double bogey's that plague my game, not the CB's.
They are beautifully simple irons, very pleasing on the eye.

But, as has been said, if it aint broke.......

I changed midway during the year from titleist 775cb to the MB and absolutley love them, the only thing I wish I had done was wait until now! If you can afford to spend the money then why not get the worst thing that happens is you dont like them and go back to your old ones and sell them. Why get them with such strong lofts?

How did you find the CBs compared to the AP2s? Also i would get them 2 degrees stronger aswell

Even I as the great tinkerer can't see any benefit in changing when your handicap is still going down and your firmly established as a Cat 1 golfer. I'd stick and maybe use the money on a lesson for the woods and invest in maybe a 4 wood to give yourself another option

A Hybrid would probably be worth trying. Not sure what the Titleist Hybrids are like tho' and looking at your bag would you have anything else?

To come down 2.2 within Category 1 within 1 season is some achivement. I don't know you or your game but do question why you would consider switching irons when they are not particularly that old and you, on the face of it, seem to be playing so well?

I am having quite a few lessons over this winter as am totaly changing my swing, My pro has ripped it apart and we are starting all over. We are going for more distance and consistant shots.

I just fancied treating myself to a new set but with the tour loft on them. Am not sure just yet if i will change. Will continue with what i have for now anyway i think.
