So, updated the 2nd hand John letter t4 to mx200's over xmas break and are having mixed results.
Although I've been told the 200's are a less forgiving club the downfall of my irons is significant. Now this could be a physiological thing however every shot seems to be thin and to the right. Other areas of my gAme have come on leapsand bounds, even pitching, however I've got to the point where I'm scared to use an iron and have been fAvouring my hybrid or pw. Anyone else had issues with new clubs, and did you get itsorted? Chhers

I have gone from 10 year old cast beginners clubs, massive heads, huge offset with aged shafts my pro told me were useless

to

2nd hand forged MP-57s hardly used with good shafts!

I have only hit them on the range so far and into a gale of a wind but I cannot belive the results are about the same, apart from the new clubs put a lot more spin on the ball. I can even stop a pitched 7 iron pretty well and the 3 iron is a beauty, couldnt hit the 4 even in my old set, just went along the ground most times.

Stick with it, get some lessons and it will all be fine. I pretty much think that unless there is some technological reason you dont get on with clubs its mostly in your head. Sadly if you do not belive in your clubs then you are never going to do well.

I belive in my clubs 100% and the faults only come from my bad swings.

Bet you're lifting your head and catching the ball thin as you are eager to see how much further the new bats send the ball ;)

Either that or someone who really knows will be along shortly......

Yep as whereditgo said,

More than likely to be " new club syndrome "

Looking up too early too see how good the shot is.

Was having regular lessons up until Xmas and havnt had one for 6 weeks, next lesson is this weekend, so will discuss with the pro, just looking for some potential root causes as currently I'm going into the lesson with "there not working" would it be fair to say that as both sets are cavities, there wouldn't be a massive gulf in forgiviness? Failing that I'll have to get an I-easy!

I just saw a set of 3-sw of my old ones on ebay for 189...

I only paid 129 of my birthday money 10 years ago for them!

OK these are used but have tour wrap grips... Ebay has some strange prices!

I almost regret giving mine to the driving range to cut down for juniors if I could have sold them for that price!

I even miss my old irons a little.. then I go look at the shiny MP-57s and I forget very quickly!

Who told you the MX200 are less forgiving? I thought it was a GI or even SGI club and very forgiving?!

Thats the gospel according to Mizuno Al....
If you look at any of the club test done in the mags over the past 2 years the MX 200's are way down the list for forgiveness compared with most other irons in the same category!

Think it was the guy in shop. Your have to forgive me gi or sgi?

Sorry Game Improver or Super Game Improver.

@Kid, that shocks me, both that is it the case and that I did not know it.
