As stated in another thread I'm now having to commute to Oswestry for work, this is going to impact my evening golfing as when the nights start drawing in I wont be able to come home and have 9 holes or hit the practice ground as I wont have the light.

So Im potentially looking for a new course that I could play at after work and maybe travel for medals if the course is good enough. Does anyone have any experience around the area and any recommendations?

I live about 10 miles from oswestry but sadly have only played 2 clubs locally, so cant tell you much. I have only played Mile End Golf club(member there) and Moele Brace(municipal). Son is also a member at oswestry which is a busier older course(never played there yet)

I am a member at Mile End Golf club(just on the outskirts of oswestry). A nice varied layout course, just turned 25 years but plenty of mature trees and some water to hit your ball into!

They offer many membership options, so for instance they offer a 5 day 9 hole(after midday) membership for £260 which may fit nicely with you. Would perhaps give you the chance to retain your current club and an additional club, depending on your finances. They hold an evening Wednesday social which is well attended btw(son goes to it).

If you want a game there and see whats it like, more than willing to knock it around with you.

Awesome. I'm gonna try and get around the courses in the area so I'll take you up on that. Cheers mate!

I believe Oswestry is good, although never played it.

Llanymynech is a little cracker though, I can vouch for that.

Either that or travel up to Sandiway, and make 100 new friends on here.:D

You have a few courses around here to choose from ,Oswestry -which is a mature course with lovely greens.
mile end -a newer course that has tough but fun holes on and a great back 9,
llanymynech -is very hilly to walk but is fun to play , also the views are special👌.
Henlle park - haven't personally played but is said to be an ok course .

Sandiway is 40 miles from Oswestry LB :rofl:nearer to where i work now but i just cant afford the fees there!

Llanymynech is only a 5 mile drive from my new office, Mile end is 2 miles and Oswestry 3 miles. So Ive got a pretty good selection very close!

All 3 are pretty good,

For the views on a good day Llany cant be beaten but watch out on bad days it's a slog.

Oswestry is ok with couple of good holes but a couple that let it down and could be busy.

Mile End pretty decent as does have a driving range too
