I will be shortly looking for a bit of new golfing apparel in the new year.

Items I immediately require will be a new sweater (or two). A sleeveless sweater for the sunnier months when it gets a bit chilly of an evening.

Not so much a name tart but fancy some good quality clothing. Would it be fair to say I'd be better buying online or from the shops?
I'm sure the likes of DG and AG will be having "genuine" sales in the new year on clothing items, or am I sadly mistaken?

Failing buying pukka golf gear, what's the next best place for sweaters and sleeveless numbers?

Probably get slated for this but Next do a good range of smart formalish trousers that are good for golf. I like them as they do clothes for stocky people like me. Reasonably priced too.

Their shirts dont last however, 2 washes and they look tired.

Of the golf brand clothing in my experience Callaway lasts well, Nike is rubbish, Adidas is so-so, Ping is good, Ashworth is good.

Debenhams have a great golf section in their Glasgow store, not sure if they have other golf stores. They do some lovely Cross gear, Stromberg etc etc.

They also always have a fantastic sale!

Ag will have Woodworm in the sale you cant go wrong with them sweater wise

I've just bought three new Woodworm shirts from AG (before they bumped their prices up again).
Ticket prices added up to £99.97
I paid.....£49.97 (including delivery)

Really good quality, well chuffed. I will be looking out for some sweaters when they post their sale prices up again.

Today in a premature John Lewis sale I bought a pair of polo ralph lauren navy blue trousers for £39 when they were £115. And a polo ralph lauren pullover for £42 from £85- and what is the bets bit is I considered the pullover at £85 two weeks ago. I am chuffed. The trouble is I was talking to the manager of the store (who served me at the checkout) and he said that because the golf specific range of ralph lauren gear didn't sell well they are making it ridiculously cheap to get rid of it- not to be re stocked :( I used to love picking up some bargain polos etc from there as people wouldn't buy them just because on the label they said polo ralph lauren 'golf'. Even when some in sale polos were £32 my mate refused to buy one because it said golf on it. This is how they don't sell resulting in bargains for me as they look good on and off the course.

I hate shopping in stores but do call in quite frequently as there is normally something different.
I'll normally come out with a polo or sweater.
For the prices there in comparison to golf sites... it would be rude not to. :D
