Currently have a 4 year old Citroen Picasso 7 seater , mileage is 61000 ,with a 1.6 diesel engine, tank of gas does about 450 miles
Its the wifes firms car, but owing to a restructuring we are going to have to start funding this ourselves, so im possibly looking for a replacement.

I want the impossible

Great fuel consumption
5 seats min with good boot (estate ??)
costs under 18000 new
Low service costs

anyone got any suggestions?

Kia Ceed Estate will tick all those boxes brand new for you with a 7 year warranty and I know you can get them to throw in 5 years servicing as well. Just depends on how you view the brand.

Thats really useful, never on my radar before , see that there is a garage about 6 miles away, so thats good
Thanks Hacker

I often drive Kia Ceeds in my job, in fact drove 2 today. They have a fantastic deisel engine in them, and that's in the 11 and 12 plate reg. I would expect the new 13 plate ones will be even better.

Good luck in your search! :)

I had a Kia ceed hire car in Spain last year, carried 4 plus luggage with no problem, really impressed with it.

New mondeos are mahoosive

This. Fuel consumption isn't AMAZING, but still get about 45 to the gallon, which isn't bad for such a huge car. Got everything you'd need and for 18k you'd get a lovely spec'd one.

Or Skoda Octavia (the mondeo is most certainly bigger though, even the hatch)
Or the Kia/Hyundai alts with their 5 and 7 year warranties, but I have no idea how big they are.

100% agree with you. Great brand and value for money is incredible. If you don't mind a saloon then get the Optima as that is one hell of a car.

Buy second hand - save a fortune! 3 yr old reps BMW with 80k full service history - 4 figures - save the rest! East 3 years of good car and sell it on for 4-5k - compare that to the depreciation on the 18k options above

Thanks for your ideas guys, by the end of the week I will be the owner of a Kia Ceed Sportswagon level 2 trim
4 months old, 7000 miles £5k off the new price, 6 years 8 months warranty left, no service deal, but not buying new so can't really complain
Service interval 20000 miles av service £320
Was gunning it down the M40 on the test drive and couldn't get the fuel consumption below 55

Result I Say :)

Congrats on the new car, enjoy it mate. It's nice to get 50-60 mpg these days when the fuel is so expensive!

So what's my commission for the recommendation then? :)
