Today I received a dozen pearl srixon soft feel for £6.99 AND £2.99 P&P. I checked them all out and at least 7 looked brand new and the rest looked like they had been hit just a few times. Now the ball that looked as if was the runt of the litter still looked like a ball that had been plaed only 2-3 holes, so my question is do most on here go for new balls V's pearl condition.

If they are for bounce games I use the pearl or grade a balls.

For the comps I use new balls, then once I have played a round they usually go into the bounce game bag

If it's a Lake ball or a refurb then you don't know what you're getting or how long it's been underwater.
A few days or a week and it'll make virtually no difference to a new ball that's been hit twice, putted twice and tee'd up on the 2nd.
Certainly not enough difference for us to notice.
I use Pearls for the Winter or if I'm swinging badly and losing a few.

Pearls and pickups are fine for me.

There is something about using a new ball, but that feeling reduces after a couple of hits and completely disappears if you have to reach for another!

I don't trust Refurbs. Lake-balls that have been in too long don't end up as Pearls.

I usually buy in bulk, about 5 dozen, and can get some pretty decent balls like last years Bridgestone B300's for about £20 per box. Better buy than old balls that you don't know how long they've been under water for.

I always buy new balls you can get last year model balls brand new for a good price per dozen.

I'd rather do it this way as I know what I'm getting for money rather than risking it on some I don't know where they been or how long they been submerged for lake balls. If I'm playing a comp I'll take a new ball out the box and once that rounds done it goes back in the bag for use during bounce games so they get plenty of use.

New balls all the way. Last years B330s could be had for 17 a doz at the start of the season.

How does anyone know that the pearls they are buying are not one hit lake balls? I can't see how its possible to know where any of them came from, same as pickups you have no idea if they were bought new, or were a lake ball when they were lost.

Your only certain of knowing that a new ball is new never hit, everything else has some possibility.

If you want any Srixons next year let me know.

I find hundreds of the things walking the dogs, i fact i just gave away 200 mixture of soft feel and AD333 and most were like new.

you can have them for free, i gave the last lot to the junior section and didn't even get some much as a thank you.

I can just as easily lose a brand new prov1 as I can slazenger I find in the cabbage, for that reason I buy AD333 pearls of ebay, last twice I've got 20 decent balls at less than a tenner posted

i like titliest prov's, but can't hold on to them long enough to warrant £40 for 12, they normally end up in the water.. so pearls box of 24 for £25 is good enough for me.

I said on a thread the other day, I have 6 dozen new Pro V's still in the boxes untouched.

I brought 4 dozen Pearl, 1 hitters off eBay in January last year and still have 18 left.

I don't loose many so I'd have no issue spending the money on new.

I suppose if your budget suits and you can afford to lose them/Don't lose many, then buy new. If your pocket wont stretch that far, buy pearl.

As far as I'm concerned once you've hit a ball once it's secondhand so I'll use anything as long as it's not too torn up. I'll use good balls in comps but practice and bounce games I don't really mind.
