New balls please!

Morning!

I’m thinking of trying a new ball in the very near future, maybe as a psychological kick to turn my fortunes around. Of late, not playing particularly well and fancy a change of ball, rather than the usual and completely counterproductive chore of buying new sticks.

For the last 2 years I’ve played Titleist Velocity exclusively, and don’t have any complaints about the ball really. It likes to run out on the green a fair bit but I’m sure that’s probably more to do with my ‘thinning’ chipping/pitching technique than the ball itself.

So, before taking the plunge and buying a dozen, I fancy trying a few out, with the two main contenders being;

1. Taylormade Project (a)
2. Bridgestone e6

Anybody use the above regularly and have any comments, good or bad? Will a chomper of my illustrious talents really notice a difference?

The velocity is a real low spinning ball, hence the long roll out. Not tried the TM nor the e6. Have used the e5 in the past though and it a decent ball.

bought 2 dozens of bridgestone e6 a couple of years ago. really good ball, you hardly notice any difference to the more expensive models, give it a try!

I've been using the Dunlop DP1 V3 lately.....love them to bits.

I use the E6 and I wouldn't even think about using anything else.

I tried a Project (a) and they feel really soft off the face off the club. Kraxx plays them all the time, he's a TM fanatic, and watching the ball around the green he gets them to stop quite quickly, bar when he thins them.

The E6 is a decent enough ball, in that it's white, round and has E6 written on it instead of Project(a).

At a mid HC level, what ball we use will make next to no noticeable difference.

Was using e6 and really liked it, switched to AD333 Tour as I had some shop vouchers to use up and no e6 in stock. I have to say I will not be going back.

AD333 Tour is well worth a try.

used the E6 for a couple of years, then during the last year or so thought my game had developed enough to maybe appreciate a more premium ball, tried several including the more expensive bridgestone models, srixon zstars and taylormade pentas but have now gone back to the E6. maybe just mental but didn't find one that was keeping me as straight with the driver which tends to be the key for me to having a good round.

Used the e6 for a bit of time and found them to slow off my putter face ie just did not feel right.I changed to the tm Rocketballzwhich is a 3 piece ball and gain a few yards,stopping better on firmish greens and very good off putter face. Good deals at american golf.

Another vote for the AD333 Tour, really nice ball, comparibale to the Pro V1 imo.

unless changing from a distance ball to a soft ball or vice versa then a noticeable effect will be minimal if any.


even as far as putting goes. the same stroke will knock any ball a required distance. that's all that matters really. talk of feel off the putter face etc is just nonsense in my opinion. the ball makes contact for a fraction of a second in a putting stroke, then its gone. if you liked that feeling or not will not determine if the ball goes the required distance and direction.

if you don't like the feel, buy a different putter!

Just thought you might like to know that lake balls.com ( which is just around the corner to me ) has got 50 grade A Bridgestone e6 balls for £24.50 +£5.75p&p. Worth it if you want good value for money.

Your our wrong with that quote. You can tell the difference between balls whilst putting. I play prov1x. I lost one recently and used a top flight to finish the hole. Whilst putting the tone of sound when I putted was very clicky.

I kept the the top flight and next time on the putting green I putted with the two and the difference is like night and day. Try it you will definitely notice! It might not make any difference to the amount of putts during a round but there is a difference to the feel of the face.
