I don't know what other forum users do when they have played with ( what starts as a new ball ) a ball that you have maybe played a couple of rounds with and then starts to show signs of wear. I normally play with a soft ball and when they start to lose the dimple effect I just use them for chipping practice in the garden. But after a while I acumalate quite a few and I am at a loss as to what to do with them. So what do others do with their worn out balls? And when do you decide when is it too worn to play with?

I usually manage to loose them before they get chance to get too shabby. What you need to do is every so often ,tee it high & try & smash it into the next county. Then you can get a nice new shiny ball out of the bag & have a nice smooth swing at it

My balls usually end up in a bush long before I have played then long enough to wear them out. On the occasions I have had a premium ball that shows signs of wear it ends up a practice tube of decent balls for chipping practice.

A worn out ball from new? What is this phenomenon? Every ball I buy instinctively has the need to be set free and never be seen again. Some are water creatures now and live happily amongst the carp and frogs. The majority however like thick bush and tall grass. No ball remains with me for long. I don't intentionally mistreat them, it just sort of happens.

Bit obsessive about golf balls only use one make, one kind, keep a shag bag full of quality used for practice, donate the others I won't use again to the junior sections in the local area.

I've got an old shoe bag full of old and beat up balls, I'll use them at the range at the club once the weather picks up. The better quality old balls I'll use for short game practice

I take a dozen or so at a time down to the range and put them in the basket with the other balls. Sometimes you get them back in later visits. A bit ironic that as you are buying back something you have already thrown away.

Do you have a practice area at your club? I put all my old balls in a practice bag. If I have any premium balls still in good shape I keep those for chipping.

This.

We have a lovely pitching practice area at out course. Ideal for short game pitching.

Great for hitting 3/4 wedges into.

Practice shmactice.

I use them as provisionals. If I'm playing badly enough to need to use one it's not long for this world anyway so I don't accumulate lots.
