new aeroburner irons

They look very nice. I was in AG last weekend and the design and finish on irons now is quite stunning. Really well finished bits of equipment.

I do think the drivers, woods etc of the Aeroburners are a bit in your face for me colour wise but the irons seems more subtle, perhaps less space for the various colours etc.

I didn't see the part originally about lofts. What a load of nonsense. Take a 4 iron, stick a 6 on it and pretend you are hitting it further. I know there was a thread on this a while ago but I do think there should be standard lofts for each iron and then they can be raised or lowered for the individual at fittings if required. The average golfer just wants a standard comparison ie a TM 6 iron, regular shaft v a Callaway 6 iron, regular shaft. This is getting as bad a s car mfrs and their mpg fiddles.

The lofts are the way they are because of the playability of the clubs. If an average player can get a 19° 4 iron airborne regularly then that's fair enough. If they called it a 2 iron, nobody would buy them because everyone knows an average golfer can't hit a 2 iron. My own set started off as standard but now my 3 iron has the loft & length of a 2 iron, BUT I can get it airborne no bother & it goes further than it used to. Who cares what it's called as long as you know how far you hit it.

And the 43° wedge probably goes the same height as a standard lofted pitching wedge. Mine is now 42° but I can still get it into the clouds because it, and me, are both high launching implements.

I'm in complete agreement with what Taylormade are doing. The biggest iron in your bag should be the longest & lowest loft you can hit consistently. But calling it a 4 iron is, I am sure, intended to avoid putting people off who don't like the sound of a 2 or 3 iron.

43.....pitching wedge.....mmmmm

Yep 1° weaker than my 9 iron.

Either they launch stupid high and need the lofts need seriously jacking or they are just kidding folk on about how far they hit each club.

Each to their own but not a set that aesthetically appeals to me I'm afraid.

I think they look quite well for those looking for a g.i. club.

They are a lot more subtle than I thought they would be after seeing the fairway woods and driver.

Bob will go crazy cos with those lofts everyone will need 4 wedges

Why is that? Rory hits his wedges miles so, in theory, he should need about 5. The fact is that, however far you hit a wedge, you're always going to need to hit half & three quarter shots. My 44°, 50° & 58° are enough for me. I use the 44° for most short ones even if I can reach with the other two because it gives me more control.

I saw the irons in AG today, beautifully finished. i resisted hitting them just in case.....

Im not bothered about numbers on the sole or what loft they are for this or any other club. What is important is knowing how far you hit each club
