We had a friendly 4 bbb today under the new handicapping change

I was the lowest on 12 and my partner had 18 our opponents were 15 and 24. The 24 is a competent golfer and quite able to play off 18, my partner is struggling off 18 and trying to bed in swing changes. I played pretty well and we lost 2 and 1 but the difference was two of the extra shots that the two of them wouldn't normally have got !

It's going to get hard to win! Any thoughts?

Thoughts? Pretty obvious really.

You muppet. As far as I know, the change doesn't come in until 1st March.

The CONGU press release states ' Changes will take effect on 1 January 2016, with an implementation date for clubs of 1 March 2016'.

I took this to mean that 1st March is the date on which the new rules must be implemented, but that clubs can do it from 1st January. Our club had a 4BBB competition yesterday, with the new 90% rule in force.

I can't see the what you are moaning about. You state the 24 handicapper is playing better than his Handicap and your partner is off form at the moment. Looks like the new rule is spot on. The form partnership won.
it just shows how unfair the 3/4 allowance was.

I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of this type of thread in the coming months where a lower handicap player loses against a higher handicapper and it is all the fault of the rules - nothing to do with the 'better' player having an off day which coincides with the opposition playing out of his/her skin on the one day everything slots in place.

or they just played a bandit:whistle:

Get ready for a shedload of hard luck stories this year where people lost who would have won if it wasnt for the rule change

I'm not moaning, it's just an observation after the rule change and I played well, so the game was even!

I don't see what the big deal is. 4bbb match play is Mickey Mouse anyway. There's no proper comps in that format, just winter league
