I am going to switch out my mini driver for a 3 wood as it is just not getting used. I would like to hear peoples thoughts on the best 3 woods out there at the moment. Happy to go new or second hand. Budget around £200. Not really a big fan of Nike or Taylormade but pretty open apart from that.

I'm also looking at this, try the Cobra F6 fairway comes with a red tie shaft. Looking to hit this when American Golf get them which I've been told should be soon.
Haven't hit but the Titleist latest model looks nice as does the TaylorMade aeroburner.

Don't discount any of the main brands, until you've given them a go. I was dead against taylormade until I had a go with their irons and the numbers and feel were good.

I've had a trial round with an aeroburner 3 wood and although distance was good it sounded and felt terrible to me. If I had just bought one blind it would have been a waste of money as I couldn't live with the sound or feel.

I'm going to give the Callaway XR a go and also Adams tight lies as I'm looking for something that's good for me off the fairways.

I can discount TM and Nike because I do not like the styling of the club and therefor would never feel comfortable at address. I have 3 Tight Lies 2 Hybrids and they are fantastic.

I have an R15 that I use for driving. I do not find dispersion any better with the mini driver. I want something a bit more accurate off the tee and that I feel comfortable hitting off the deck.

If you dont mind second hand, take a look at the Ping G10 3 woods.
If you can't hit one of those you cant hit anything. :)

Thats fair enough re: the look of a club. Thanks for the feedback on the Adams clubs, appreciate that.

Useful thread for me as I also am looking for a new 3 and 5 wood, going to try the Calloway v series after some recommendations on here and some reviews online.

I have the Taylor Made jet speed and just didn't get on with these clubs, although the the ball went a long way the dispersion was way to erratic, my old Calloway 3 wood went farther and straighter, sorry to stop useing this club but it's just harder to hit off the fairway than the modern 3 woods.

I use a Dunlop 3 wood off of the fairway, which came with my inexpensive clubs. It's probably worth about £5. When I get hold of a shot properly, it goes for miles. My advice would be NOT to spend anything like £200 on one club. In May I had a week all inclusive in a 4* hotel in Tenerife for £169, so my advice is to get a decent second hand club, and then have a week in the sun. Hope this helps !!

I don't get on with 3 woods at all. I have an m1 adjustable 5 wood and have cranked the loft down and I find it a lot more accurate....
