One of the local clubs is losing their professional after a good number of years service to the club.

Having turned 50, he has managed to secure a European Seniors Tour card at the qualifying school last autumn. This gives a bit more background on the story.

Good luck to Fraser Mann, it shows that it's never too late to live the dream.

Good luck to him. Guy I know turns 50 next year and he's planning on giving it a go, plays off scratch now. He's got a few quid so that makes it a bit easier but must be great to at least try it.

Hey Bob - didn't we read a post about your birthday this year? :D

Yes, I'm 50 now but couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo at the moment.
Besides, it costs about £1000 a week to be on the full tour and I don't have that sort of money.
Maybe next year :)

Not if you win £53000

Good luck, but the guy's a winner whichever way this turns out for him. Even if he fails miserably, he still got there to do something that any of us old farts would/soon will be willing to give our eye teeth for.

So, like Nick B says ......

Every loser wins

I know someone who got on the Seniors Tour... I think he won £1200 in total :)

If you can get some kind of sponsorship then it would help, at least you would curb your expenditure.

Fraser Mann was pro at my club in the 90's.

Midlife crisis or inspired decision? - not sure, daily grind on tour is probably way less glamorous than we imagine. Airports and hotels 45 weeks in the year....hmmm.
