I'm planning on doing the 1 month free trial of netflix over Christmas and was hoping people could give me some suggestions of films/tv series that i might like to try on it.

Thanks

If you haven't already watched it Breaking Bad is a must see, took me more than the free month to watch all 5 seasons but re-registering with a different email address soon fixed that :smirk:

How come it wasn't worth paying for?

Only available for free by breaching their T&Cs. Similar to sneaking onto a local golf course to play for free. Each to their own.

Nothing like it at all, I didn't lie to them or deliberately avoid anyone.

Now if your finished up there on your high horse maybe we can get this thread back on to the original topic

You do realise Smange is Scottish. First time he saw the "Free Derry" wall he enquired about how to get it. Asked me to collect but I ended up in Cork. ;)

Anyway back to the OP. Breaking Bad is a must see. Especially the later seasons.

Orange is the New Black is very good although be warned. The first episode has quiet a lot of nudity and there are some lesbian scenes. When you get past that though the story is fantastic. Keep an eye out for Crazy Eyes, one of the most interesting characters in it. Can't wait until season 2.

Loads of other stuff but these two stand out for me.

If watching on a tablet you can get an app called Hola (has a little smiley flame logo) which allows you to access the Netflix catalogue available in different countries and this really expands what is available to you. You can also get an extension for chrome that works the same way. There is a way to access it on Xbox 360 as well but I haven't tried it yet and not sure of the details.

If find it is well worth the 6 quid a month and 2 users can log on at one time so you could give the login to a family member or friend so they can us it. Pay a little more and you can up that to 4 users at one time.

Nothing high horse about it at all. Breaking Bad, for example, is a fantastic piece of television. Breathtaking cinematography, intense storytelling, award winning acting. The people involved deserve to receive recognition for this. Watch the entire series in 3 months and it's cost you £12, or about £0.25 per hour of TV. Incredible value.

But yes, if I can just sneak onto the local course for a few holes then why should I bother paying a green fee? Anyhu, clearly we have different principles.

Someone of such high morals and principles would never consider such a downright classless act as that

Right, gotta go, have some music to share with others :p

if your on Virgin media you get 6mths free trial, just about to sign up.

@OP if you like comedies then Modern Family is simply outstanding, there will be characters in there very familiar to everyone, plus the writing and acting is superb:clap:

I've never even seen one episode or even a bit of one, I see its in season 6 now:eek: the concept about a teacher with an illness making and selling drugs seems simple, is it really as good as reviews say or does it get wayward as in a series like 'Lost' etc?

I'm looking for something good to grip me the way '24' and 'The Sopranos' used to

It is definitely worth watching and they did exactly the opposite to Lost i.e. they kept it to 6 season's and that's it, end of. The final series was excellent, answered all the questions and didn't leave you wondering what you'd spent the last couple of years watching!

I think Breaking bad is the most over hyped pile of cack ever known...lol

That line about the best thing on Tv was one for the family guy fans :)

I really enjoyed Breaking Bad and some parts of it were some of the best TV that I have seen. Ozymandius was one of the best single episodes of a TV drama that I have seen. Other episodes dragged or went off on tangents. To me it was a very good series but not deserving of the overly high praise heaped upon it. You will not be disappointed watching it but you may leave it thinking that you have seen better.

Personally I preferred Sons of Anarchy. Yes it is a more simple action/drama and it can get a little soap operish in places but it never fails to entertain and keep you wanting to know what happens next. Series 3 which moved the setting to Ireland was a weaker series but the rest is top drawer with series 5 (which has not hit Netflix yet) being the best.

Modern Family is also excellent and very funny, one of the best US comedy series since Frasier.

Another vote for Breaking Bad. Infact could watch it all again. Dexter is another good one although let down by a crap finish imo. We've only just discovered Modern Family so have ordered the box set of seasons 1 - 4. Also good are The Wire, Six Feet Under, West Wing, Sopranos, The Killing (Danish version), Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Swedish version) Am sure I've missed others as well
