Right, Granny wants to get Netflix but I'm not sure she can.

She has BB through SKY and an HD Panasonic TV but its not a smart TV and a pioneer dvd player.

The Netflix website is useless to understand. so anyone know how I can get Granny using Netflix via her TV and how many devices she can use on the basic package?

I'm a diehard Apple fan and have used AppleTV since day 1, but right now, I'd buy an Amazon Fire TV instead. It's much better in performance and has more streaming services available for it, like iPlayer, ITVPlayer etc.

cheers chaps, I'll look into chromecast, is it just a usb key with apps on it?

Does she also have a smart phone? Otherwise Chromecast isn't the answer.

Amazon Fire is probably the best option as it has it's own remote. The amazon fire stick would be great except not in UK yet.

Another option may be the Google Nexus player, although significantly more expensive.

Netflix standard option allow 2 devices to be used at the same time. Pay a little more per month to allow 4 devices access at the same time.

Let me rephrase. Is she happy to use a smart phone or tablet to access the content or would she prefer a standalone? ;)

a standalone what? TV? yes, that would be better but she doesnt have a smart TV so Chromecast seems ideal. She can access via iPad then chromecast takes over I believe.

Standalone solution. Which the firebox would offer has a remote and content is driven solely by the box accessed via an independent remote. But if she is grand with the iPad then the chrome cast should do Great thing is I believe the chrome cast basically does all the work after you've fired the content to it from a compatible app. This way it's not as sore on the battery as playing via HDMI or a screen mirror type cast.

so how many devices can you log into at the same time in Netflix basic £5.99 pm package? (their website doesnt tell you until you sign up!)

2 at once. Annoyingly it kicks oldest login first when this is exceeded rather than stop further connections.
