Thinking of getting a coffee machine... HID like Clooney, while I am ok with the coffee it makes. Just realised there are about a 30+ machine types. Any recommendation or user reviews.

we have one, dont use it very often now as per most kitchen gadgets, Juicer, steamer, blender etc etc... but we have the nescafe dolce gusto one, the key thing is the variety and the cost of the pods. (plus if you get one of these, get the automatic one, not the manual one. The auto measures the water for each type of drink)

If you like latte's like we do, the machine uses two pods (one milk, one espresso), so a box of 16 only actually makes 8 coffees, works out around 50p per coffee.

I have a Tassimo machine and you can get some real bargains on their website from time to time. They are often dicounted products too att he major supermarkets and the coffee brands you can get are Costa, Kenco and Carte Noire.

Today is the day to get one with Black Friday deals.
The usual suspects are selling them for around £50 which is half the RRP.

yeah.. i m pretty much Latte boy (though always liked Flat Whites more). Which Nesp do you have?

Up top for thinking, downstairs for dancing! Top suggestion squire! thats halved the cost of my coffee's! also found out recently i am lactose intolerant, so my latte intake has reduced dramatically! soy milk is the work of the devil.

Having my blonde moment.. i did not get this one.

And in answer to the OP, they do make nice coffee, but the cost does add up if you cane it!

We finally relented and bought one of these about 6 months ago.

Makes a decent enough cup of coffee, we like the Latte and the Chocomilk.
But it does work out quite pricey a cup.

It's what is putting us off. We had a great holiday in Portugal and drank loads of their cheap coffee in various places and it was great to drink really tasty coffee but can you justify a outlay of £200 for a proper coffee maker (the one we like on a reveiw site) just for the once / twice a day cup.

We have a Nespresso Citz with milk frother - great piece of kit probably the best piece of gadget kit ive bought - quick clean convenient - the pods work out at 35 p each BUT Lidl have started doing a range of nespresso compatiable pods at 17p each and its good stuff. The Nespresso coffee is good and well graded too - the shops are great fun to go into and if you are a n owner you'll always get a free cup of coffee.

No need

We have an expensive Gaggia languishing in a cupboard because it doesn't make coffee as good as the AEG, and it's a lot easier to use.

I've got a Nesspresso Pixie (http://www.johnlewis.com/nespresso-pixie-automatic-coffee-machine-by-magimix/p231204768) with the milk frother thingy. Absolutely great bit of kit - replaced a Delonghi bean to cup system, and makes way better coffee. The capsules we buy direct from Nesspresso are 29p or 30p, and well worth it. We've tried some of the cheaper alternatives that supposedly work in the Nesspresso machines, but not really found any to compare. in the scheme of things, the cost is pretty good for the quality it provides. Worth trying the different variations too. Like the fact that Nesspresso do free recycling of the capsules too.
