I havent been on in a while but im keeping tabs on whats going on......After a winter of lessons and a hell of a lot of work my game is in tatters.... I have a 2 way miss and its driving me insane..... Loosing the ball to both side of the course aint funny.. especially when it counts..... If i knew changing a swing path was going to be this disheartening i may have thought twice a out it but im in it now and i suppose past the point of no return........im trying so hard to get one shot shape that im push fading and blockin tge ball as well as pullink and pull hooking it.... Iv no idea where to aim from one hole to the next.... I threw away qualifying for the second round of our captains prize this morning because of errant shots..... I cant give up.....

Virtual hug for you.

Now off to your pro who you're paying hundreds of pounds to. Tell him/her that you're missing all over the place and ask for a 15 minute swing check. If their worth your money they'll be able to tell you what you're doing wrong and prescribe drills to overcome the problem.

God knows you'll put in the time to fix it once you're given the cure.

then don't :smirk:

The great John Jacobs said and I paraphrase "when your swing has what I would call total swing disintegration then you have to go back and look at the basics, grip posture alignment, the last 2 especially"

keep going, as you said you've already started no point going back. No one said golf was easy and im sure you feel like giving up on the swing changes now but if you keep going and make it to the end you appreciate the difference in your swing.

Everyone goes through tough times with there swing and most of the time people come through and see the difference. Just think when Nick Faldo under took swing changes he, it took him 2 years to feel like he had got it. And then he went of to win six majors.

At the start you obviously thought that this was the way to go to improve and at the end you'll be glad you came through it all and be playing the best golf of your life.

Stick with it, it probably took me a year and a half to rid myself of the S&T moves you have been at it for 6 months. It WILL come good eventually but it is incredibly disheartening when you are standing on the tee and not knowing where the ball is going to go (I still have that sometimes :( )

Or you could try pitch and putt

Agree with the comments about seeing your pro for a quick check as may well be a "simple" fundamental just gone slightly awry.

Before then though - relax and breathe...enjoy the walk and forget about scoring. Don't take a card just go out and enjoy the fact you are privileged and fortunate enough to be able to play this beautiful (frustrating) game.

I can't recall who it is on here who always suggests a read of The Letter (Fred Shoemaker) but whoever he is he speaketh sense!

I like that, especially the last paragraph:thup:

Nice to see so many people with positive words..... Im guilty on a good few counts of things said in the posts above.... Especially trying so hard...I know i have the game in me to be a single figure handicapper...... I definitely have the discipline for work and practice ....
Patience is a very strong trait of me but i guess in this instance im maybe being a bit too impatient...... I played today with a scratch golfer and a 3 handicapper...... It was a battle this morning.... 40mph winds and rain..... A really bad day to play..... The 3 handicapper was 8 over gross at the turn...The scratch golfer was 5 over....And yours truly was 9 over......Not too bad considering i wasnt hitting the ball where i wanted.....
I finished with a nett 78... 6 over Par for the day... The scratch golfer finished 8 over gross....And the 3 handicapper N/R'd.....

But i still wasnt happy...... Taking an 8 on our Par 4 first ( Something i havent done in 18 months....And taking a 9 on our 18th.... A great drive and a pushed 6 iron into crap.... Reloaded for 4.... Did the same again but the ball plugged in the rough....I had to play as it lied....Managed to dislodge it and it scuttled over the green into knee high grass...Chopped that out and then 2 putted for a dismal 9 after being just off the fairway and only 3 over Nett... I came away after the finishing hole with a gross 94...... Army golf...You gotta HATE it..

Been there. Worked hard over the winter to make changes and thought things were going well but had a meltdown about a month ago. Had a swing check with my pro and now feeling I am back on track. That said at my fitting I had a dose of the hosels. Very embarrassing but he'd seen it all before. Took five, had a few swings with a short iron to get the tempo back and carried on. Hit it great on Friday! Typical

I think I am back on track and can't wait to play a few holes this week and work on my game too. If you are working on the swing it is inevitable you will have bad days but I would be concerned if the swings were both sides. My pro has worked hard on taking left out of the equation and so my miss is mainly right. I agree with the others who say get the pro to have a quick look and suggest some drills. It is probably something tiny. Keep working. Keep the faith. It WILL come

This happened to me and I relised after all the lessons and and effort I put into grooving my new drills I forgot I had to just hit the ball.
Go and play 9 holes on your own and forget about I have to do this and I have to do that just hit the ball tee to green.

For me it was honestly that simply and now I'm playing some of the best golf iv ever played and I have been really enjoying it.
Good luck
