definitley buy second hand as they will still look great and are probably half the price of a new set.

Some pro advice would be sought after- your new clubs pro maybe?

I would say some Pings or older Titleist, Callaway etc would be decent quality and do what you want without busting the bank

Stick with the big brands, buy second hand. Find something that catches your eye and then google reviews to see if they are user friendly or for low handicappers. If you buy clubs that don't work then learn what does not work for you, put them on ebay and get different ones. Enjoy.

Second hand is defo the plan cant afford brand new at the moment what do you mean some pro advice after club after i buy of before i buy?

I dont have an exact budget mate i am just looking for a decent set that would suit me second hand and go from there to see how much yeno but i wldnt be buying anything new, just dont want to buy clubs and end up being an awefull set that do nothing for my game

Cheers tyrion thats the reason i am lookn for advice to try and save me from buying a bad set yeno thanks for the advice

pro advice before buying, ideally from future new pro- he might have just the set to suit you and you'll get 'in' with your new pro

Problem is the new club dont have an actuall club pro, told me they could just put me onto the one or ones associated with them but still thats not to bad of an idea mate cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Second hand all the way. You will be able to pick up some good bargains through EBay. Answer some questions and we will be able to point you in the right direction.

how tall?
how much do you want to spend?
what club do you hit 150? be honest.
do you prefer long irons or hybrids?
Do you need a complete set including bag, or do you already have some clubs?

Hi madadey,

Thanks,
I am around 5"11 maybe 5"10,
Well hopefully nothing more then €200,€300 but depends on what i can get yeno,
150?probley a 6,7 iron,
I havent really hit many hybrids but 2,3,4 irons im quiet awefull at hitting so i would imagine hybrids,
a complete set i have been using my fathers previously

fortunatly for you off the shelf clubs will be fine in length and with hitting a 6/7 150 yards I would be guessing a regular shaft should suit you. Take a look a these irons, they would be a good starter set and come with a Gap Wedge too.

Expect to pay around £100 for them.

Hey their a nice set ill give dem a go thanks very much any opinions on driver putter woods?

G10s or 15s is a good start. Pretty much a set of 2nd hand pings will last a while indeed. I got down to 12 in 18 months with 2nd hand irons

Trying to keep your cost down one of these could be a good option for a driver

i would go with a ny driver that has a HL (high launch) head, basically loft of about 12 degree. Loft is your friend so get plenty of it on your driver, it will make life easier.

Taylormade RBZ hybrids can be a good shout as you can pick them up for around £40 each.

Any Taylormade HL 3 wood would be a good shout too.

With those irons, that driver, a HL 3 wood and a #3 RBZ rescue you should be around the £200 mark with a good set of clubs, that will still have some residual value when you want to start upgrading stuff.

Find a 56 degree wedge to add too. Look at the Oddyssey 2-ball putters as they are a great club and can be picked up cheap for the older models.

So with all that kit you will be set up with a good quality set and be within the £300 mark.

The PING g series are a good shout too, but can run a bit pricey when playing with a budget of around £300 for a complete set including bag.

I should get yourself on "EBay" buddy, you should be able to find yourself summat half decent on there for not much money, I'd stick with "Callaway" or similar and go for something like X12,14,16,18,20's something along those lines would see you rite to start off with as for the "driver" well who knows but there's "Yonex Ezone" on there at the moment for £25-30 I think, would be a good place to start you should be able to piece together a half decent set for maybe around the £200 mark for the lot !...

I would be tempted to nip down to American Golf or equiv where you can have a go with some on their simulator. Will at least give you a clue on length, shafts etc. From there you can buy on the second hand market with a bit more certainty regarding fit because the wrong clubs will be really frustrating.
