Nedbank

Great win, looked to be in control throughout the whole tournament. Really impressed with how he turned his game around from a huge low 10 years ago to become World no.1. Really like his attitude as well, very friendly and good natured to everyone.

I dont know why so many people knock him,he's the most
consistant golfer in the world today.harringtons won 3 majors would you bet against westwood to beat him,I think not..personality wise their both likeable, but westwoods the
real deal..

Really don't understand the issue over Westwood being No. 1 Why is he being castigated in this way just because he hasn't won a major?. All the guy has done is to play the game and score WR points in the manner designated by the powers that be. I don't remember anyone making an issue of the points system when Woods was miles in front and making the ranking system totally boring. As some have pointed out, it demonstrates a consistency over a 2 year period which every other player would love. OK, he didn't win a major during that time but he was the most consistent player in majors during that time. Well done Westwood.
Having said all that, I totally disagree with invitational, limited field, challenge tournaments like the Nedbank and Chevron counting toward world rankings

Totally agree here. Matt Kuchar actually got 2.4 World Ranking points for finishing at the bottom of the pile on +7 and 3 shots off the next worse player. Total joke!

I dont' get it either. It puzzles me that the majority of people (if this place is anything to go by) still think that Tiger is the "real" number 1 because Lee hasn't won a major and can't "close out tournaments like Tiger can". Well, on the evidence of yesterday, I'd say that he very much can, and Tiger very much can't.

I'm loving the fact we have an English number 1, hopefully the confidence he's now riding with will give him a chance to win a major this year.

I agree that Kaymer has had a fantastic season but the fact of the matter is that the World Rankings are based on a 2 year rolling period. Based on that, Westwood has been the more consistent (particularly in Majors) and has been out injured for a significant period of time. I believe that Kaymer will be a future No.1 but, for now, let's all revel in having a European No.1 in Westwood. We can then crow even louder when the next No.1 is also a European

Yeh I know, that's why I said it's just numbers. Funny that people should cite that Westwood was injured when Tiger didn't even play Dec-Apr and only managed about 14 events in the entire year.

Will be interesting to see how Kaymer does next year... I don't really care much for Westwood, just because he's English doesn't mean I have to side with him. Tiger's golf is far more exciting and I'm wondering if he can still go on to beat Nicklaus' majors record... I can say for sure that Westwood won't :)

I like Westwood and admire the way he has come back from being way down in the also rans to the top of the tree despite allegedly not having a short game and being a bottler.

I think next season rolling forward when you start to lose the periods Woods and Westwood have been injured from the rolling cycle you'll get a much better picture of who is performing the most consistently. I think Kaymer will certainly come into the mix especially if he kicks on. I'm sure GMac will also have something to say about it if he can produce the form of 2010. Others will get better and better like McIlroy and so it could be a really close thing in a year or so and won't be one person domination for wees, months or years at a time
