So for those of you who have made an ace or come close (I suspect there's far more of the latter :D ), I invite you to narrate it in exquisite details. For those who haven't, describe your closest attempt.

I'll go first.

I lined up to tee off on this par 3 on a dewy Saturday morning, tentatively selecting a 7 iron for a slightly downhill 178-meter tee-off into the wind. There were no hazards in play, only fairway and a couple of bunkers, and the pin stood in the center of a flat, ample green. I lined up 5 meters right of this and swung smoothly. I felt the contact was great and the ball sailed just where I'd lined up with a slight draw instigated by the breeze. The ball bounced softly, and then a second time - off the pin - to come to rest 4 centimetres from the hole. Easiest bird ever :(

Can't wait!

PS: I really don't mind the long reads, for those who really want to indulge their prosaic impulses here!

"That's a nice wedge shot, right at the flag .... JEEZ STRAIGHT IN!!!"

Then last year, never having broken 30 for nine holes. Realise I need one birdie in the last two holes to do it and the 18th is a downwind par-5. Thinking, just get it on the green at the par-3 17th. One bounce - ace. Then absolutely crapped myself down the last but got the par for a 28.

Which one do you want me to narrate ?? :whoo:

1] Slightly downhill par 4, perfect drive with slight fade to cut with the slope, first bounce I thought 'that's going to be close'. It wasn't.
2] 8 iron one bounce then straight in.
3] Soft cut 7 Iron, could not see the result as pin was protected by a tree, guys on the next tee started yelling and jumping up and down. They seemed more excited than I was.

It's a 'Sunday evening' and I'm out for a quiet knock about on my own, I'm stood on our '185yd/par3/10th' the green is only partially visible from the tee, I knock 4 balls down the fairway, the 1st disappears down over the brow of the hill, the next lands just left of the green, the other 2 land in front of the green, one bounces right and the other bounces onto the green and continues to roll out the back, I pick my bag up and meander off to the green...

I then pick up the balls to the left and right of the green and walk around to the back of the green to chip the runaway ball back on (which I do) it's at this point that something crossed my mind "I'm sure I hit 4 balls down here" so I proceed to have a scout round for the missing ball, no show, ah well, never mind, I don't pay for them, and continue to putt the ball that's on the green up to the hole and as I walk up to take the pin out I spot it, the first ball I hit is playing hide and seek with me from the bottom of the hole-cup !...

Smashes me hybrid on our 5th, it went as straight as one if robin hoods widowmakers. Walked up to the pin and it has caved the edge of the hole in. It was 1/4" off a slam dunk. Ball finished 20ft passed hole and i three putted.
Adele would of been proud of me.

And it was only 121 yards off the whites ..... ;)
