As a student, its municipal courses all the way for my golf. My local courses have all been recently had new management under the name of My Time Golf!

They have taken away all the discounted rounds I was able to have. (On an afternoon after 2pm, with a leisure card, you could play 18 holes for £5!!) They have promised to invest in the facilities and qualities of the courses, but I dont know much about the company and whether they will or not!

Has anybody else had any experiences with this company?

no experience but this sounds very much like the council have leased the golf courses out. Leamington Spa did the same with Mack Golf and I think Jack Barber Golf also run council owned courses. Once these companies take over costs will rise, although in time improvement will be seen on the course.

I have experience with these guys - they run Bromley My Time Golf Centre. It's not good news I'm afraid!

Bromley is a shambles of a golf course. And I mean an absolute shambles. You could not play on a worse course.

Firstly, the My Time concept appears to target the widest municipal audience; every time I've played at Bromley I've been stuck behind chavs wearing trainers, jeans, tracksuits - that sort of thing. I'm not trying to make a remark here about dress code, but merely pointing out that they don't really 'get' what golf is about and are happy to appeal to anyone who wants to hack a golf course to pieces.

The course itself is terrible, both in terms of appealing to 'proper' golfers and also in terms of quality.

In terms of appeal, most of the holes are not 'proper' holes. The 1st, for example, is par 4, but is around 250 yards long. I think the CSS is something ridiculous like 62. My point is that their sites are designed to be open to any muppet, so it's not a real test of golf and there are often no hazards.

In terms of quality, Bromley is shocking. It's so bad, in fact, that when I played there last time (a knockaround with a friend who is having lessons and just starting to play) I picked up whenever I found the green, as the green surface was so badly damaged and rutted that you simply couldn't put on it - the ball wouldn't follow any line other than the lines where the green had been scored by machine. Most greens had little/no grass on them, just bare soil.

On the plus side, the range is one of the best equipped I've seen anywhere near to where I live.

This isn't meant to worry you, but I would be concerned that having My Time take over your course means they'll want to make it appeal to the lowest common denominator. It's more akint to pitch-and-putt than actual golf.

There is 3-4 courses in my area that I play on, and they have taken over all of them! I was going to play a round on Sunday but was put off by the fact that the management had changed hands! Not too sure as to where I am going to play my golf from now on!!!!!! :(

I've just joined North Worcestershire for £624, which works at at about £12 per week, that's cheaper than the local municipals.

I've played the Lickey Hills a few times this spring and I can't say I've seen any changes yet - the course seems in decent condition but it's still plagued by kids arsing about on the greens and families taking a stroll on the fairways!

May I say as Head greenkeeper at Lickey hills so far all I have asked for off mytime I have got so far , so I can assure you Lickey hills will continue to improve whilst I'm here , keep enjoying your golf ;)

H yes i know them they run cray valley golf club. They have ruined our course we now have water blisters on most of the greens which only seem to be getting worse . We have 6 temp greens at the moment but could easly be 12 as they are really bad.Our course used to be really good the greens were good all year and never had temps untill myti e took over. All they want is to put the money up all the time and not look after the members.I see this has happened at bromley as well they are the worst company we have had at cray valley .Is there no other company that would like to take over the running of crayvalley?
