My eleven year old son tried out for the county academy last month. Got a letter yesterday informing him that he's been invited to join the under 12 county squad proper for 2012 instead. Very happy dad here.

Not a bad start to a friday!

My lad has a way to go before that occurs though. He's only 18 months old (but loves playing on the range and short game area with his old man. Got a half decent action as well.)

Well done but please don't ever turn into one of those pushy dads trying to live their dreams through their son. We had a dad at our place and he use to watch his boy play inter-club matches. This guys was only about 12-13 and off high teen handicap so no mug but everytime he hit a bad shot his dad would give him a real hard time about not listening to what the pro had taught him, bottling it etc. Embarrassing to watch and in the end the club asked him not to walk around watching

Thanks for the thoughts Homer, I run an aikido club so know a bit about coaching young'ns. I'm very careful to only feedback on what his coach asks me to, and just give a gentle nudge when it's needed.
