It's always nice to dream big and I started browsing the net today here sitting by the ocean (last day on hols here :() and I was looking at golf properties and I saw this one

I've heard the Monterey Peninsula is the place to be when it comes to the abundant choice of courses they have there.
Anybody have any destinations that they'd like to live/have a house by or in?

A few years ago, my wife found a nice house in Dornoch, It was the sort of thing we were looking for, but needed a fair amount of work. She was really, really keen... that is untill she went to see it.

I was next door to Royal Dornoch Golf Club, in fact the garden backed onto the clubhouse, it was so close.

She went right off it after that. It would have done me very nicely.
Its been opened as a posh B&B now and the built a big dormy house in the back Garden..

Yea they've photoshopped those photos big time!

Patrick would you of been prepared to get the work done? Then enjoy the rewards??? Shame eh....

My dream house is a massive pile overlooking one of the greens at a place called Celebration, near Orlando, Florida. It's worth about $7 million though so will need a substantial lottery win.

Played there in 2010, went back for another round in 2013 and will be going back again in September.

Beautiful house, on a beautiful golf course, in a beautiful town.

I'm guessing by the way it's furnished that that's Stevie Wonder's gaff.

Could think of much better courses in Orlando to have a house on. Particularly any of the houses that surround Bayhill but especially the house to the right of the water on 18 that is in the middle of the course and is owned by one of the members.

Celebration is a very strange place but if you ask me why I couldn't tell you. (Because I don't really know why.) Went off the place when a time share shark took us for a meal there.

Certainly looks more like a furniture showroom than a home.

But US taste is for more colour anyway - colour helps fill space which they have rather more of than UK does!

John Lennon's old place beside the 9th fairway at St Georges Hill would do me. I would also have to have a place near to Finca Cortesin in southern Spain, so I could play in the winter with the sun on my back.

Orlando for me as well, absolutely love the place.

Out of the courses I've played it would be on the Grand Cypress course, great courses (3 nines) and a real friendly and nice atmosphere about the place.

Algarve for me - flight early doors then on the course for 10am lovely Jubbly - also short flight to nip over for short breaks. I don't really do holidays for more than 10 days max. 7 is ideal for me but the other half prefers 2 weeks so we compromise on 10 days

I think I know the one you mean, on the right across a lake as you play the hole? I remember being impressed by that gaff.

The town reminds me of the Truman Show, it all seems so contrived and false

I bought mine already in Davao Philippines at Rancho Palos Verdes Golf & Country Club Resort , got 400 sq meters overlooking the 4th & 5th fairways , cost me about £40,000 to built a very nice house , The island of samal is not far away and beaches to die for , everything is so cheap too ................................:)

The place seems to be stuck in a time warp, something you would expect to see in 1950's or 60's America - an Amish community springs to mind.
