Just wanted to get something on screen with my plans for 09.

Playing off 16.3 having joined a club in June 08. Hoping to get this down to 13 by the end of 09. I am playing links golf so all year golf is not a problem. I have booked 3 lessons for £50 in a January deal at the local driving range. First one Monday.I am wanting to complete them before March 30. Between now and April 30 (lighter evenings) I intend to go to the driving range fortnightly, spend 30 mins a week on a putting green (choice of 4), 45 mins fortnightly at some waste ground with my wedges short irons and hopefully 18 holes on a Saturday.

I have also signed up to the full version of Scoresaver after using the free trial last summer and will commit to entering my details to help my game. Anyone who hasnt tried it should sign up for the trial. I believe its excellent.

So in a nutshell for me 09 will consist of lessons, practise(driving range, short game, putting),playing medals, bounce games and recording my stats. Plus marshalling at the OPEN!!! and watching loads of golf on TV.

How will it pan out.......time will tell.

That sounds like a cunning and well thought out plan. I've got a new practice regime worked out for the summer which will be more focussed than last year where there was quantity but not necessarily quality.

You really will see patterns emerging once you use SS2 regularly and echo the sentiments that anyone serious about the game should look into it. I think 13 is well within your compass. I look forward to tales of daring deeds

My plan is to win as many trophys as I can because its my last year as a junior so it's my last chance to get my name on the Junior trophys.

Best of luck farneyman.

You seem far more organised with your game than I do. I think with things like SS2 etc is to, of course collate as much information as possible to make the system work for you. However, I think we sometimes fall into the trap of over analysing the game from time to time. Sure, you'll find where your underlying game faults and weaknesses are. But I would suggest you don't get too bogged down with over analysis.

Hope 09 goes well for you!

Hey Farneyman,

Sounds like a good plan. My new years resolution this year is to devote 80/90% of my practice time to the short game rather than just banging drivers and long irons down at the range to try to get my appalling handicap (24) down to a respectable level. I have got my first pitching lesson booked with my pro next week.

Nothing more disappointing than being just off of the green in regulation and walking off with a double bogey! NIGHTMARE!!

This is the year!! Woo hoo !!

I need some sort of plan as my 8 at the par 4 1st on Wednesday monthly medal was the worst start I could have hoped for  I then parred the nest 2..... What a game this is. :D

Never worry about the first hole. Sure it can get you down but hey things can only get better. I once triple-bogeyed the 1st but still won the Medal by 3 shots!

I firmly believe that my best club is the one between my ears. I have a very good positive attitude which I see much better players than me suffering from. That alone will save me a few shots a round. I hope

I understand the paralysis by analysis thing but my main plan is mostly with a club in my hand. SS2 is to follow my progress not to dictate it.

I aim to be a single figure player by the time Im 35. June 11. Its a long road but one step at a time it possible to get anywhere.(very tiring though)

My plan is to be playing off 20 by october 09 by just working hard on the range and playing 2-3 times a week from april-october. If i stop playing silly shots around the green and concentrate on getting the ball on the green i will drop 6 shots every round easy.

I will be joining a club within the next fortnight so only time will tell.

My plan for the year would be to get from 18 down to below 15
Just back playing golf after a 5 year absence have been issued a hc of 18 which is what it was 5 years ago .
I have spent the last six months practicing 3 times a week and am a stage now where I understand my swing and why certain shots are happening.
Am now shooting consistent golf around the 80 mark so hopefully I can cut a few shots of that 18

I'll probably be playing a lot less this year due to financial constraints. I'm gonna suspend my membership in April to save some dosh and just play the odd bounce game with pals.

Trips to Goswick and Nairn are already booked in but apart from that I've got no great goals for the year. The only one would be trying to post one decent score to keep up the recent record. Last four years my best gross score for that year have been 72, 72, 71 and 67 respectively...so something in that range at some course would be nice.

This year I'll be trying to get back into single figures. Probably won't make it but I'll settle for getting back to 12.

My son is now 11 and also a member at my club so I have no excuse for not playing more than about 30 times this year (which is what I managed last year...)
