Decided not to play or praxtice today as a result of a sore back (HTL take note!) so decided to take HID to Silvermere Golf Complex for a spot of Sunday lunch on the patio overlooking the 18th green.

After a very nice time I chanced my arm and asked if I could have a nose round the Doug Mclelland golf store. HID was agreeable and so I went in. After a while I wandered over to the TM display and picked up a 56 degree (12 degree bounce) wege with zip grooves. It sat beautifully and I really wanted to hit a few balls.

I took it onto the wedge and it just sang when I hit a ball. It seemed to fly miles, so much so that I had to check I hadn't picked up a 52 or 54 degree by mistake. Opened it up off the mat and the ball flew skywards with ease. Even though the grooveswere taped over and they were hard range balls and damp, they did sit down quickly on landing.

I finished my bucket and although my heart said yes I knew I have been overdoing it on golf kit lately and that we need to tighten our belts a little in general. What wasn't banking on was HID saying "you hit that really well, why don't you get it". I told her I felt guilty and before I could argue she had grabbed it out of my hand, collected my credit card being used as a guarantee on the club, whipped her own credit card out and bought it.

What a woman!!!!!!

Have to say that I know TM clubs do come with a certain degree of hype about them but if you haven't hit one of their new wedges yet I suggest you try any of the range as they feel fantastic

You're a lucky man, Homer. But not the only one. Mine likes me to go and play golf. It stops the waistline spreading but I wonder what she gets up to when I'm on the links.

Mine lets me play both days at the weekend and practice as much as I want in the week. She knows about how good I was as a youth and how much this stupid game means to me and according to her wants me to get as good as I can again.

Personally I'm wondering how the postman knows her by her first name and how the home phone is always engaged when I try calling!!

I'm only joking of course but she is great at letting me play so much

I'm the same, I packed the game in because I was spending too much time away from home and it was causing a bit of friction and we had a young son that I didn't spend enough time with.

11 years later, and a session with a counsellor. I took up the game again with her blessing. She positivesly (sp) encourages me to go and play and has no problem with my spending money on gear. "you've worked hard for it, spend it" I can't fault her. That hypnosis works a treat :D.

Still she indulges in shoes and I don't complain about that.

My wife is also quite understanding-i can manage to get out on Sat and Sun if i so desire-i generally play before 8-30 am and are therefore home before 2pm.

Luckily our kids are 19 and 15 and therefore can look after themselves which helps me get away to play golf.

Homer, you're a lucky man.
We took up golf together when kids had almost flown the nest and money was less tight.
Knowing what I know now about the game, just as well Mr B didn't start earlier!

Good effort Homer! And I have also heard good things re the new TM wedges, and TM products in general (its amazing how many yellow & red head covers you see on woods at a course nowadays with the TM logo on them)

Mrs Robbie is also exceptional when it comes to my golf; new set of Titleist irons & wedges for 1st wedding anniversary, TM Superquad & summer membership for birthday... 2nd anniversary is coming up, but think I may be pushing it to get a 3 wood and hybrid this year! :)

I think she has been extra nice this year knowing that with Robbie jnr arriving in October, my golf in the next few years may become limited...
