Looking for a little bit of help if I may.

The course I play is tiny. To this end they have (Over the past few months) been working on lengthening the course. Today, I had a call from a friend who played there last night saying all the new greens an tee's are now open.

Some of our longer par 3's (Our 11th which was 234 yards has been lengthened into a 350 yard par 4) have been lengthened to par 4's, additional bunkers have been added to greens and some of the internal OOB have been removed.

The course is still tiny, just over 5000 yards post changes. The changes made have added 4 shots to the course par.

I'm playing first thing tomorrow morning with my Dad and can't wait but have a niggling question.

With the course being longer. How will this affect handicaps at the club?

They shouldn't change really as the Standard Scratch will presumably change too.

Hope it's all good and that they've done a good job. Looking forward to hearing about it! :)

Thanks for the replies guys.

I thought this would be the case but wasn't sure. Im gonna try and have a walk up the first section prior to my round just to try and get to grips with how it's changed.

I take it the course has been properly re-rated by your local area union ? That'll give the new SSS for the lengthened course. What is difference in par between old and new ?

Played many a short course to the get caught short......DCBs home course is one of them. Changing a long par 3 into a short par 4, I would fancy my chances more on the 350 yard par 4.

I believe it has been DCB. The chairman was talking during the last presentation evening that the course would have to be closed for a time to be measured before play post changes could take place.

Difference in Par is 4 shots.

get out first and as its a new course you will hold the course record:eek: albeit until the next group or thereabouts comes in:rolleyes:
but at least you can officially say you held the course record once:cool:

Not a bad idea DV.

Only problem is the course was measured Tuesday and opened for play Wednesday.......... When I was fitting a laminate floor at home!

Gutted!
