He appeared again today for the first time after the last 4 months of awful weather. He was 92 in February and he took up where he left off and came in with 32 points. What can I say?

P.S. As I told MetalMickie on Wednesday, that is him on my avatar.

We have a guy who is in his late 80s (87 i think), was talking to him the other day and hes played pretty much every day the course has been open this winter, even if only for 4 or 5 holes. Great inspiration seeing him out there and such a nice guy too

On those figures I have at least another 28 years of golf, I just hope I don't lose my balls.

When I was member at South Kyme many years ago I had a partner in the scratch team that was 69 and still playing to 6. The most humbling experience ever was one day in the medal seeing him miss lip out 2 putts that would have seen him shoot his age.... But the -1 gross won him the best gross and nett score. I would say the best golfer I have ever played with.

I think my overall hero would be my dad as he introduced me to the game and was a low handicap player. Showed me how the game should be played and even in his late 50's would now and again open up his shoulders and show me how to stick a driver out there.

I played in a comp last weekend with a chap who was in his 80's. he used a sit on buggy/electric wheelchair to get round the course and never hit a ball over 120 yards but arrow straight and no 3 putts. Of course he wiped the floor with me. Seemingly he won the club championships two years ago and came second the year before that.

Different sports, but the same theme. We have a member of the Scottish Ski Club aged 92 who is still skiing and playing tennis.

It reminds me of asking my son when I turned 50 if he thought Saga would run sea, sand, sun and sex holidays. Sure, he said, just more slowly.
