During a superb (By superb, I mean the course, the people and the weather) round of golf on Monday with Phil the Fragger, Kraxx and Bill 'Editor at Large' Elliot we discused handicaps among many others things, what ours were etc...

Then during dinner as i was talking to Bill the subject of handicaps came up again, with Bill asking what mine was, I told him currently 17 and that I'd only just got it as the competition season came to a close. I went on to say that I would be practicing hard over the winter and come the competition season starting again I would be entering to get my handicap lowered.

Bill asked what I thought would be able to reach, I told him my goal was to reach single figures, he asked how long he thought it would take me to reach single figures. To which I replied this time next year. A small smile appeared on his face and he said that was a tall order to acheive, but I told him I was determined to do it.

As the evening drew to a close and we were all leaving for our cars, Bill stopped me and looking at his watch, said 12 months from now you have to be in single figures.

It's a challenge I am setting myself, to get from 17hc to a 9hc or lower in 12 months, do you think it's posisble or am I just talking pure fanstasy island?

I will get to single figures for the next H4H, I am determined to do it and not if, but when I do, I will donate one hundred pounds to the charity.

Tough but not out of the question.

Plenty on here have come down from quite high handicaps pretty swiftly so if you work on the right things almost anything's possible.

Good Luck!

It's easy to come on and say 'no chance'..... So I won't do that :D

It's a big jump, but not impossible. Where do you think you have to make the biggest improvement ??

Good luck with the challenge to very near half your handicap is a big ask, but with your positive thinking and determination then it is possible, lots of short game work will help you along. Good luck .

Def possible. In 2012 I can down from 16 to 12 and if it wasn't for my son being born this year I think I may have got down further.

Way aye man, :D

I think you're past the first bit - a positive attitude! I wish you all the very best mate.

Oh, and it was good to meet yesterday - if only for a brief chat.

Good luck and keep us posted.

It's possible, I think regular lessons, playing frequently with good players and quality practise on your weak points will get it done

Best of luck
