Being ever so slightly prone to gear whoredom, changing putters with alarming regularity (more so than my pants has been known), and suffering from starry eyed distraction at the latest equipment launches, I’ve arrived at the inevitable conclusion that my fruitless quest to find “that one club” has no doubt had a detrimental impact on my striving for golfing consistency. The dysfunctional swing aside of course.

However, within the tumultuous ever unstable environment that is my golf bag, there is a rock(s) of stability and reliability – my G25 irons. Arguably my finest performing clubs are those I’ve had for a while without changing or tweaking. Think of them as my “Gary Neville”. Unpleasant perhaps, but unquestionably efficient and consistent.

So, what club/s have brought you the most consistency this year? Do you have the ol’ faithful in the bag whilst all those around it misbehave?

A small nod should of course go to the humble ‘pink castle tee’. It’s never let me down…

My odyssey Versa No.9 half mallet putter, had it a while now and not going to be changing it. Also my Cleveland 588 RTX V1 wedges, won't be changing those anytime soon either.

My Callaway 4 Hybrid and Nike Covert Irons are just so good. Putter regularly mis-behaves, and I was enjoying the Titleist 910D2 before the head decided to leave the shaft, so back to the regularly mis-behaving X-Hot. Then the less said about the SLDR Hybrid the better. Can't see me switching irons or dropping the hybrid out of the bag anytime soon though, love those clubs.

Irons for me, the JPX EZ are the only things in my bag that aren't under constant fear of being binned! That said the putter is rapidly becoming a firm favourite whilst I also seem to be getting on with the driver.....for now!!

My progen concept HMS irons. The least glamorous clubs possible, but i've tried 2 sets of mizzy irons this season and it's the old faithfuls I always fare best with.

My old mizuno widec putter is a keeper especially after this weekend. Just had a casual pitch & putt session yesterday morning and holed absolutely everything!!

My nice lovely Odyssey White Hot Pro #2 Centre Shaft Putter - what a difference that has made to my putting and it's been brilliant all year. Despite taking the opposite view of the OP in respect of technology - a golfing blessing from heaven.

Donnay lob wedge.

I've bought 2 others, but they just dont seem the same. I;ve had it out the bag 3 times, but after a week or two, it always gets back in. It's about 7 years old now, it has grooves like Jordan's Mary, but still does the trick.

Irons for me. Mine are very chunky but they just work. I'm so tempted to upgrade but worried new ones just won't go as well. I don't see how other irons can improve my game. I've got down to where I am with them and there are definitely other areas of my game that cost me shots over my iron play.

It would have to be my Nike sasquatch 5w, I could never hit but this year it's just clicked. When ever I need to hit a fairway or just hit a lovely shot as I'm playing through a group, I can trust it.
