I've been threatening for a while to stick up my swing and eventually got a one from last night at the range.

That one was my usual baby fade

You are fanning the club to the inside during the takeaway which has the club under plane at the top. You then are having to bring it down very steep to stop it being trapped behind you, this is taking it out to in and creating your slice.

At the halfway back position check the club is parallel to the ball to target line.

This video may help:

I'm not sure if it is me looking at it but the head movement seems quite a lot, and yes quite steep but I can't talk when it comes to steepness of swing!

Nice slice...;)

Nice slice...;)

Not that I'm being defensive here, but the vid wasn't a slice, believe me I know what a slice is and that came no where close.

Anyhoo, taking on board what was mentioned about fanning, I popped up to the range and tried to get the club p higher on the take away, one of the vids that comes up after the one posted about getting stuck mentions getting the right elbow ahead of the seam of you shirt, so tried that and it seemed to help. It helped create more lag and I was able to smack the ball consistently with good contact.

Okay not all went straight some went left, but I was happy enough.

Should you want something to work on to help you.

Have a look at your grip, would be better if you could get it in the fingers & what's called neutral.

In this shot you aimed right so that ends up with you taking the club back around your legs & flat so you come over the top to end up swinging across & to the left.

The only way to cure this is to bite the bullet & get your aim what to you will feel 'left' but you need to be face aimed at target, your alignment parallel left of this with feet, hips & shoulders. You'll probably need to bring your ball position back a tad as with this shot because of the other things it's a tad too far forward in your stance.

First move away you will need to keep your hips 'still' & your hands & wrists 'still' so they don't bend & roll early to send the club around behind your legs to end up a ways too flat & behind you with the shaft here down behind your back at the top, from there the only thing you can do is swing out over the top through impact well left.

Here's a vid that it you can get this first move away right, after you've set-up aimed & aligned well parallel to your ball/target line, will help you get in a much better position at top of backswing with your shaft over your right shoulder in a good place to move down first then swing feeling you're swinging out to the right.

I do wonder what's going on with those feet!

They look almost pidgeon-toed - right one certainly looks 'toed-in' and there's something weird happening with it on the downswing. No weight shift? All upper body swing(/heave)?

Looks as if you are taking the club back outside the line too. Lots of head movement and I think you are pretty much standing up at impact.

As Coach says though, start with the grip.

My grip is neutral to strong with my left hand thumb just a fraction round past 12 towards 1 if you had the number of a clock around the grip. Let hand has two knuckles showing. Club goes into my fingers with the grip resting on second crease on forefinger to first crease on little finger.

My left foot points forward perpendicular to my target line, my right foot points slightly in, or pigeon toed as you put it.

Okay, as long as your left thumb is what you'd call 'short' around level with you left trigger fingers knuckle & not 'long' down the shaft that seems all good, if the right hand 'v' matches up to the lefts & they both point parallel to your right shoulder, the right hand would be okay too, as long as it's not 'under' the grip & right hand 'v' pointing past your right shoulder, all good too.

Aim, alignment would need squaring up to be able to change the swing path to be in to square to in, rather than out to in a ways swinging well left through impact.

if you want to get your swing path in a little better shape, you'd need to look at the first move back & where your shaft is, currently a little flat being set & rolled a ways around the legs & then where it is at the top a ways behind your back & right shoulder, that tends to force a downswing that's over the top & going left.

If you compare those positions against the vid showing where it would be better to be in order to operate on a better plane, so you'd better able to start ball at target with then less curvature, plus get a better strike through the ball.

Would be better if your left foot was turned a tad to target (imagine a clock face, then the left foot would point at eleven rather than being at 90º pointing at twelve, then better if your right foot was pointing at twelve at 90º to your ball/target line. It's pretty impossible to be able to turn & clear your left hip prior & through impact with the left foot at 90º to your ball target line.

I suggest going to see a pro, don't take this the wrong way but there's a lot wrong with your swing, that will prevent you from achieving what you want in the game of golf, Advice over the interweb won't help either unless it's from your own coach and you know the swing q's and sensations you've felt on the practice ground under his/her guidance.

I do get lessons and it's way to long an explanation to go into detail. Needless to say, uploading the swing has helped, in that other have pointed out the flaws and they were thing I was aware of, had been trying to groove, but obviously have lapsed back to old habits.

As written, as others have pointed the flaws out, I now can work to fix them, my previous lessons have told me what I need to do to fix them, it's just a case of repetition and practice.

Does your coach not advocate mirror work?
If you know how you should be swinging but it's straying back to old ways, get in front of the mirror at home and practice correct movements in front of that so you can feel and see it's right, and groove the muscle memory.
Works for me it find it's better than smashing balls on the practice ground constantly

I say swing in front of a mirror and you will see your head swaying a lot and YouTube Adam Scott swing and see how his head is dead still, I had this problem and this is how I solved it.
