Just thought I'd share as I'm sure it happens to all/most of us at some time and it even makes me wonder why I play!:(

I've booked a 'sortmeout' lesson for tomorrow so hopefully normal service will be resumed asap.

Symptoms are as follows;
at least half a dozen J Arthurs per round (OB nearly every time)
fat shots from 6 iron and up
thinned long irons:mad:
duffed or thinned chips around the greens.
36+ putts per round:rolleyes:

literally only 2 or 3 'proper' shots per round usually with 3w

It's as if I took the game up 6 mths ago and it's very very very depressing.........

I'll report back what the pro thinks and advocates as a cure..........if he says Crown Bowls then watch the FS section:rofl:

Hope the pro sorts it out quickly and probably something simple amiss which can be fixed fast! If the tee to green game is off then you put pressure on the short game to try and scramble a score so could explain the chipping and putting.

Good luck

Nope, A player of your quality cannot lose his swing... oh you did not say you had lost your swing... I have nothing more to say then so I shall ramble.

Its just mental buddy, lack of concentration or age or something like that. Normal service will resume shortly I am sure. You know that you will see the pro, he will tell you some stuff you already know but the fact that you have chatted it though with him/her will make you feel good and you will get back on it.

Its incredible what can put us off in this game, truly incredible, golf is a mirror...

Ive been there as Im sure most have... Im just starting to pull myself back together now after 6 months of this.... I put most of it down to confidence. Once that goes it becomes an ongoing issue with every type of shot that normally I hit fine. Hit balls and feel positive relaxed more on address, its not life or death and you must accept that things are not going to go to plan all of the time. Swing easy and focus only on one thing for a particular shot not several to keep a focus. I.e turn shoulders on a drive or keep head still on a putt etc. It will come back. :)

usually its an unconscious tweak in your set up which throws everything off timing and off plane. pro will probably spot it after 2 mins. hopefully

You don't suddenly lose the ability when you're Cat 1. It must just be one wee thing that's throwing you out of kilter.

I agree with the advice above. Whenever I lose it a bit, I usually find my way back to nearly semi-competent by not thinking too hard and swinging within myself.

Hope you have seen this pro before ! I have been completely confused by one and need to find another to sort the mess out . I dunno if I develop a new fault every day or every time a pro watches my swing ....

Oh yes you do .... And then you start to question your past and the things you thought you did, because the rubbish that lays out in front of you when you hit he ball. Seriously some good advice, don't get good at this game because the frustration of loosing your game is soul destroying .. Knowing that you had control over the ball and it did what you wanted on a whim and now the ball does what it wants and you only gave it the impetus to carry out it's whim.

You are not alone.

At the end of last season I was swinging the club and striking the ball really well. Even managed a second place in a comp and a cut.

Then 5 months of rain and hardly any golf.

This season only 1 buffer and 2 rounds in the 90's out of about 5 comp rounds. Hitting irons fat and thin and slicing my drives, 3 putting all over the place.

Lesson booked for next week.

cheers guys and gals, I am 'going after' every shot which can only compound whatever fault I have just now, so maybe swinging at 80% would be a good start.

I even (thanks Craw) J Arthured OB at the 1st last night into a packed car park:eek::eek::eek: :(

/give me strength

It's happened to all of us and when it has happened to me a quick lesson/service & MOT can solve it and make you even better that before.

Just few checks can sort it: set up, grip, ball positioning, swing path etc - easy to check and can make all the difference.

Lol,

Did you dent an Aston, BMW, Porche or Mercedes?

That sounds so familiar it's like you're in my head!!! So far this year I've spent 33% of my time shooting mid 70's, 33& of my time shooting low 80's and 33% of my time shooting high 90's/low 100's. Lets not mention the other 1%, but anyone at West Lancs with me saw it.... I found a good pro, who understands my needs and block booked 6 lessons. Every time I "lose it", a quick 1/2 hour on the range tends to sort it out.... Good luck mate, it'll come back with a vengeance...

Before bigslice comes in telling tales I also had a J Arthur last night! Best to own up before outed!
