What a great day yesterday was.

Arrived at Wentworth at 7.30am place looked great and the weather was outstanding.

Getting to see and to meet some of the players who I have watched many times on the TV was also a brilliant (if not daunting) experience.

Walking the course watching team Golf Monthly including McIlroy really topped the day off. He really is a very good pro in everything he does, he must have signed 200 odd autographs.

Fair play to GM deputy Ed Neil Tappin and the two readers as well, they played very well for the amount of people watching and added pressure that caused. Coming away with a victory was the icing on top of that particular cake.

If anyone gets the chance to go down there at the weekend I really would thoroughly recommend it.

Tom,

I'd have a word with MikeH about not letting you out before now. These pro events a rally good especially the practice days when everything is a tiny bit more relaxed. If you ever get a chance to see these guys on the range it is something else and makes you realise the game they and you play is related in name only. The noise of their irons is nothing like the clunk (followed by urethane on wood) I get.

Glad you enjoyed the day Tom. Wentworth last year was also my first experience of being at a pro golf tournament and it is for me on a whole different level to watching on TV. Being able to get within touching distance of your heroes is unbelievable and in my opinion makes golf stand out against many other spectator sports where you are seated 100 m away in row Z. Seeing the courses for real as well makes you truly appreciate the immaculate condition the fairways / greens are that these tour pros play on every week, as well as the length of the courses from the back tees.

I am going again on Sunday and cannot wait.
