Well, in my third season of golf, I've managed to do the unthinkable and have been cut 0.8 after carding an 89, nett 67 today, against a CSS of 69! Am absolutely delighted! 44 for the front 9 and 45 back, so pretty steady the whole way. Started off with two straight Pars and wondered if I'd peaked too soon!!!

Although I'm still effectively playing off 22, I feel that maybe the monkey is off my back and I can relax and play the game now.

Hoping that there are many more (tiny) cuts to come!!

Thanks to all those on the forum who've given me help and support in my 'quest' for my first cut.

Congratulations - I have some idea of what it feels like - went the whole of last year only managing to go from 28 to 27 - so frustrating. This year is better.

Well done mate, must've been difficult not getting a cut in 3 years! I've had a handicap since november last year and its frustrating me that I havent had a cut yet!
Your post will keep me a bit more level headed and optimistic I think as I've been having a crisis of confidence lately!
Well done again and I hope I make a post like yours soon!!

Seems to me like they were pretty harsh with your initial handicap.

I got cut 4 times last year, my 1st cut was in my 2nd ever comp, my 2nd in my 3rd (won them both :o )

I think they were too generous with my 1st one of 17, I could play better than it almost straight away.

Maybe you caught them on a bad day and they gave you one that was too low. I am sure it does happen frequently and there isnt much you can do about it other than go up 0.1

Not at all SB. Delb is a very good golfer who easily plays golf to a much higher standard than his handicp suggests. With Del I guess (although not sure) he just expects too much or puts himself under too much pressure during competitions.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he plays tomorrow. The delb I know is a steady golfer who should be feared!

Thanks for the good wishes guys. It just gets better and better. Got a phone call from the Match Secretary earlier this evening to advise me that not only have I won a few quid for finishing second in Division 2, but I've also qualified to represent the club at a Lothians event at Baberton on 5th August!

Well chuffed!!
