my first cut after an funny game. ive struggled to play bogside all last season but I know there is a score in me. yesterday I started birdie par birdie and then 3 balls onto the railway. I nrd that hole well playing 7 off the tee time to keep up speed of play. I think I was level par for the rest of the front 9 plus the nr. so text message from HDID and I get cut 0.6, woop woop
I lost another 3 balls on the back nine but some good shots out there. ive seem to have a draw/hook with the driver but bighook doesn't sound right.

I was chatting to Duncan about NRDs a while back.

Is this something that people often do when there's no chance of shooting less than net double bogey?

me personally I only nrd the hole to keep up speed of play. I had hit three balls off the tee OB. I don't think about net double bogeys or my score. I think it says somewhere about NR ing and you could be questioned about consistantely doing it. but ive assumed (rightly or wrongly) that it is fine to keep up with play.

I had my best cut with an NR. Was level par on 6th tee and pulled 3 tee shots left into the Jungle. Carried only playing and managed 43 points! Just goes to show you that you need to keep plugging away. Always nice to get a cut.

still think its wrong that you can enter a medal comp, not return a score and be cut. I know thats just how the hcap system is (based on stableford) and well played on the others holes, just doesnt sit right to me

sounds a perfect example of it to me - slightly more common after one less of the tee and a few holes further into the course, but I would have done the same thing.

key is you returned the card, and other hole scores, which is entirely consistent with -
1. contributing correctly to the CSS calculation
2. helping the organisers track down all the cards!
3. returning a valid handicap card for a Q comp you started, despite not being able to win

Because in any given round you may not have had that bad hole and your handicap would be disproportionate to your level of play. Also if this didn't apply and nett double wasn't the limit 90% of golfers would be handicap 28 and hammering you in stableford and match play.

Davie, Bogside is a tough tough cookie. Good track but it'll eat you up and spit you out if your not on top of your game. Play to your handicap at your gaff you'll easily play to 2 or 3 shots better at other tracks.

Well done. I'm booked in at West Kilbride next Saturday for my first adventure round my new track.

only an opinion, I get why its done, doesn't mean I have to agree with it :)

I know it can be frowned upon NRing but as thecraw says its a tough cookie. when you look at results posted there are a lot of NRs.

Doesn't apply to me,I've gone up .2 since leaving. Same as I went up the whole year at bogside!
