So, this sunday marks my 3rd (and final) London marathon - after this I'm never running again.

If I were to tell you that "I'm built for comfort, not for speed" you may have an idea of my build. I'm 33 years old....ran the marathon in 2010 and 2011 clocking times of 6hrs 9 mins and 5hrs 52 mins respectively...I am not a runner, I don't enjoy running, but I do enjoy a challenge.

I always wondered what time I could run if things went ok on the day (both marathons before I cramped at 8 miles - the only times I've EVER cramped during runs) so thought I'd sign up for marathon number 3. Big mistake.

Over the last few months I've been working longer hours (I get up at 5:30am and get home between 6:30 and 7pm).....I also have a 15 month old baby boy. I've literally had no time to dedicate to running properly so am going into this unprepared and scared. But as its for charity its time to suck it up and fight through the pain.

If anyone has any loose change...myself and 5 pals are running on behalf of the Pagets Association, so if you wish to sponsor me feel free. Otherwise feel free to use this thread to abuse me into getting through this ordeal.

Very best wishes Adam.I'm currently training for the coll half marathon and loch ness marathon.I've never ran before but since January I've tried to get into the whole running philosophy, but I'm finding it tough.I don;t like running, but like you, the challenge is why I'm doing it.

will chuck you a few £

All the best mate, got a spot in this years GNR so need to get out training soon. Like you I hate running, it just doesn't engage me at all but I need to put in the miles as I paid the price last time I didn't train correctly.

Good luck chaps, hope you make it to the end without too much pain. I used to love running, never did a marathon though. With my knees I would be lucky if I could run for a bus now.

Never did the London one but did one marathon. Never again. Even the idea of a half marathon doesn't appeal anymore. Good luck though to all that are doing runs for charity this year. I'm tempted to go on Sunday and cheer a couple of mates home.

The utmost respect to anyone who runs a marathon, for the mental application as much as the physical capability.

I can't even comprehend the mental minerals required to run for that amount of time.

Just a word of advice, dont go too early.
Stay on Mo"s shoulder till the last 100 and beat him in the sprint.
Seriously good luck.
I am sad to see that people that are running, hate running.
I loved running,yes past tense.
I have a dodgy calf and it stops me running,i could do a 15 minute run every 3 weeks.
I have done a marathon and over 60 half marathons in the past and would absolutely
love to be able to run again.

Good luck. I used to love running but serious injury finally meant it was time to hang up my running shoes. Ran over 25 marathons (5 at London) and a few ultras too.

Ran my first London in 4 hours 15 and eventually managed sub 3.15 and an elite start but nothing ever compared to the emotion of my first.

Try to enjoy the atmosphere and don't get too caught up in it and go out too fast.
