Anyone own these irons? Had my old MacGregors for about 11 years now and think its time for a change. Had a few shots of the Mizunos and really like the feel of them. I seem to strike the ball well with the MX19s and was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

Cheers

I was noseying through sets of clubs in a local store and what struck me was how large the heads were, defijnately game improvment clubs, great for getting airbourne and having a large sweetspot but not so good for shot making. Depending on your ability these might be spot on or possibly a bit too toyish.

Having just come back to golf recently, im currently playing off about 20-22. Hoping to bring this down over the summer and had worried that these might not suit my game in the long run?

Any other recommendations around the same price mark?

For med to higher end handicappers I would heartily recommend either the mx19s or callaway x-16's (or x-18s or x-20's, they are similar but newer and thus more expensive)
The callaways are a longer hitting club with graphite shafts and would be great to get your handicap down to 10-12, this will take a year or two so If I was in your position I would get the callaways with the intention of keeping them for a couple of years then trading for more refined players clubs. (pardon me if I sound a little off to anyone that owns callaways, they are excellent game improvement irons, but because they go so high they wouldnt be classed as being just as workable as tour headed irons)

One thing I will say that may sway you either way with the mx19s is they have very very wide soles. Thisis fine if you play from lush green fairways, but if your's get dry and hard in the summer you'll find them bouncing on the turf a lot.

I have the X20's and was told that they would suit handicappers right down to the high single figures/low teens. Good forgiving improvment irons that would still be able to shape a shot a little bit. Defo a good club to go with if you strike out of the middle consistently. Should last you a few years unless you plan on being a 6 handicap in 12 months.

I tried the MX19's for the first time today, as I was having my lesson and my pro decided that I had outgrown my clubs as I am now about 6ft 2 with regular clubs(something he proved, so I knew it wasn't a pure attempt at a sale.) He therfore gave me an mx19 6iron which was just over an inch longer and 2 degrees upright or flat I'm not sure which. I hit it like a dream and am now going to get myself custom fitted for a set. As long as I don't try anything that I like more when I go to get them done. They really are great clubs, ridiculously easy to hit, and very long I found.

Took the plunge today - Played 9 holes at my course and then hit 100 balls tonight at the range. Hitting the irons really well, they seem much better than my MacGregors :D
