Has anyone played this course?Birdieman possibly give me the low down?

Going up to play it Monday bank holiday at the end of May and the Scottish Strokeplay starts there on the 28th so it should be in top nick, also allowed to play off the back tees which is a nice touch and one more clubs should allow.Looking forward to it as I've heard great things about it and especially the fact it is costing my 4 ball £22.50 per person for the round! :D

Never had the pleasure. Been to the clubhouse for a meeting but not played it. I have played all the other links in the area but not Murcar. :(

I did play Royal Aberdeen a lot as a student which meets Murcar at the turn so the country is similar - very good undulating links land and a very good track by all accounts.
I heard some members were unhappy about course condition a year or two back, hopefully that's resolved now.

Just hope there is no har (sea fog) or you'll not see anything, I expect you get that at Goswick too?

Sounds like you got a good deal.

Yep we get that too down here from time to time.I read on top 100 courses that some reviews had complaints on condition but these complaints seem to have died away in the last 18months and the fact the Strokeplay is here would point towards it being back up to scratch hopefully.

I got the deal by buying a voucher somone had put on ebay so the seller got £90 in their back pocket and we got a cracking deal so everyones a winner!

Great course dodger, though nowhere near as good as neighboring Royal Aberdeen, or arguably Cruden Bay either.

First two holes are a nice gentle start, then it all kicks off :p

It's basically straight out into the prevailing wind, then straight back, although there are a couple of holes reverse that (1st, 3rd, 11th). Only has three par 3s, the longest being 162yds. Walk off with 3x3 and you've played very well, they are much tougher than they look.

Let down a bit by four holes where the drive is blind, so if you're not playing with a member, have that strokesaver/GPS handy.

Greens were suffering a few years back but long since remedied I believe, although I haven't played there for around 3 years.

Enjoy it, @ £22 an absolute bargain.
