Managed to book a 2-ball on Muirfield for Feb this year (late) for £105 each. I reckon thats not too bad although its almost double the winter gree fee's on St Andrews.

Should be a tough test.

Was it SGU rate?

Quality course but not sure I'd want to spend that in Feb,hope you get a good day.

Just the winter rate mate - i think its 50% off in the Winter. trying to complete the British Open (Scotland) venues - after this Troon is the final stop.

What about Prestwick dude! Dont think you've done that yet. Ogilvy raves about Prestwick.

Muirfield is great. I played there with my grandad when I was about 15. We went up to the secretary's office and he surveyed the course from his panormanic window before declaring that we could start at the 12th. This is about as far from the clubhouse as you can get but we didn't mind. That said, we didn't see anyone else the whole way round just about!

Also remember being asked to not fill in our divots there.

It was a lovely day when we played and I have fond memories. The old man and I both went round in under 80 and it is a superb course.

Great value at the price you have got too.

Troon, back 9 into the wind is the toughest golf course (well certainly 9 holes)I have EVER played. If it wasn't Royal Troon, an Open venue it would not have been enjoyable, in fact it was just a long, long, long slog.

Great greens though.

More to do with Troon than Muirfield. Troon or Ayrshire golf run a comp.called the Hillhouse Cup it is for 4hcp and under the entry is about £20/£30 not sure it was £15 when I played in it.This get's you a practice round plus comp.
I played in it once and the back 9 holes are harder than Japanese arithmitic

Hillhouse Cup is great value but it's only open to members of clubs in Ayrshire.

Played last May and is still the highlight round of my life!! Superb condition, beautiful sunny evening, great company...doesn't get any better!!!! Hope you have a great time!!
