Muirfield rough.........

That is abit much even for the pros. God knows what I would shoot round there and how many balls I would loose.

If the weather is as good as forecast, the course needs some sort of defence.
They may have to put the pins in silly spots too!
I'd far sooner see the tournament won on -4 or-5 than -16!
It's The Open Championship ............................ it MUST be tough.

Slime.

Tommo, you going to be wearing stilts if your out on the course ? It's the only way we'll see you ;)

Thanks Dave...........Watched Adam Scott for a while and he's was hitting half shots into greens, even trying a half driver along the fairways. The run on the ball is amazing and unless it's a short iron in, there will be no stop. 4 and 5 irons will need to be run in, even a 6 I recon. Scott and Tim Clark were trying a few different pitch shots and I didnt see much stop. The course looks amazing and I would just be hitting a wee rescue round there to keep it in play. Scott loves the course.

One of my 2 favourite Par 3s!

Dangerous Pin position!

I've seen the rough 'worse' but probably not so tightly cut/well defined. It looks fabulous.

I'm all for it being tough, it's THE Open where the elite of planet Earth compete, the winner will be a proper winner

Narrow fairways too by the looks of things!

:D:D:D

1966 Open the had a picture of Peter Oosterhuis and Doug Beatie [both big lads] lying on the fairway of the landing area for the first drive. They had their feet in the rough of opposite fairways and their outstreatched hands were nearly touching in the middle.

Playing with Dunlop 65's and wee persimmon woods

The rough at most places I play are as tall and thick as that, obviously with wider fairways, although some are not much wider. Perhaps that's why I lose so many balls :D

I played a 9 hole course that makes the first photo look like it is neatly trimmed. It really was 3 big fields with 4 foot tall grass with tees and greens cut in and fairways no wider than your trolley. It was absolutely ridiculous. I gave up after 6 holes as I'd run out of balls and the others after 9 (was supposed to go around twice).

Ours is pretty similar too.... Most holes if you lose a drive you lose a ball unless you are very lucky. Last week I stumbled across a couple of Rhimo on our 5th, then a herd of Gazelle on the 11th :whoo:

As I said on another post, the brown top grasses are seeding now and it looks much worse than it really is.
There are some areas were it will be a jungle but the areas that are 'in play' and just off the fairways will be not too bad.
