Nope.....wedge won't get you to the fairway! I was in the left hand fairway bunker.........splashed out then the left hand greenside bunker.....splashed out and holed a 20 footer for bogey

Rumour has it that Ronnie Corbett was black-balled a couple of times for the same reason. Apparently his house was/is rather close - the corner one overlooking the 1st tees!
Rough looks unusually thick, if not as long as I've seen!

I didnt play, I was sent the picture and yes mats are on in the landing areas and this weekend is the last it gets played on untill the open week.

Yep...you can usually find your ball easily enough. Getting it back onto the fairway though.............
Carnoustie rough was thicker- this looks fine for the Open Championship
Mate played it yesterday and said the condition of the course was unbelievable.
The rough he said looks frightening and like it is 2 foot tall but when you actually get into it it's whispy stuff but he still managed to lose half a dozen eggs. They were also watering the 1st cut.
The fairways are bone hard so loads of run and with a decent months forecast given it should be still running come Open week.
Lastly he said the greens were the best he has ever putted on and they are not even shaved down yet but were still more than fast enough for club golfers with that extra foot of roll just when you think the ball is dead.
His words were "We are in for a special Open".

As long as its fair. Not sure I want it as tricked up as Merion but it has to reward the straight hitters and make fairways and greens a must

A recent national amatuer champ had +1 off the tips so I'd be surprised if its a birdie fest but I do know the R&A are hoping the wind is up.
