Okay. Not appeal to everyone. However, struggling to make the change from MP's to the JPX.Thought the extra forgiveness in JPX's would be easy to get used to...Not so..Not feeling the love at mo (2 months in). 10 handicap...Shafts in MP 58's were DG r300..JPX DG XPr 115...Ready for any comments, serious or not so..i.e get a set of Pings etc....But was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, with club change..

Possibly more helpful to know whats wrong thats making you feel like that?
Different lofts, different head type and different shfts would indicate that they are going to be different throughout.

XP 115 is a totally different shaft to DG R300.

Firstly, even tiny tiny differences can feel significant ( I went from R9TP to RBZ Tour with identical KBS Tour S shafts and expected them to be fundamentally the same...no chance. Tiny weight differences translated to timing issues which took time to resolve.

In your case I suppose Q1 is why did you change? MP58 was considered a fantastic X Over club with the best of blade, cavity and elements of muscle back all in one (somehow!)

As already asked, what are you expecting?

Just coming out the other side of a similar change.

Went from MP53 to the JPX 850 Forged, same shafts though, but took me a while to get used to them as well and so much so that the 53s went back in the bag for a couple of weeks until I was confident that I was swinging correctly and it wasn't more of a problem than just a club swap mental thing.

The 850s are back in the bag and are there to stay now and only real difference is I find the 850s a bit longer.

Persevere with them would be my advice as there is definitely something to be gained with the little bit extra forgiveness.

Good luck

Cheers for reply GreiginFife.
Thinning more shots, and dispersion is more erratic. (left to right).right hander..Than the MP's.
Seemed to get a better dispersion and strike with MP 58's..Could be me..However,not getting the confidence with them as i thought i would..
Shafts are a little lighter, but did not realise that there would be a lot of difference between sets.

Cheers for reply Duncan. As for the change, i possibly , thought the JPX would offer a bit more foregiveness than the 58's. Could be a time thing as you mentioned.Naively thought instant results would be the norm.

I had an issue when I went from S300 to XP105 S flex a couple of years ago.
After a fitting I found that I needed a heavier regular and went for the JPX850 forged with Nipon NS1150R and they are superb.

I changed from Callaway X2hot irons to the JPX 850 forged a little over a year ago and my pro said it would take 3 to 4 months to get used to the change and he was pretty well right. They aren't as easy to hit but the shafts have cured the tendency to pull hook the odd shot 30 yards left of the green

In my case I was fortunate to have access to TM (through someone on here) for the exact difference between the 2 sets, and it came down to 5g in the heads. Absolutely nothing in the wider scheme of things, but it took 1000 range balls with a 7 iron before I had any confidence.

Strangely I can still pick up the old ones and hit them fine two years on but the small difference was an issue for me.

I'm sure you will find what you are looking for shortly.

I can never understand this. I was fitted for a set of JPX850s last October. I hit them well at the fitting & when they were delivered I hit them well right from the first swing. I always think that if you have to "get used" to clubs this means changing your swing to suit them & that you've bought the wrong clubs. I've never experienced any problem like the one described above whenever I have changed clubs.

I went from tm tp cbs to the 850 cast version. So a little further down the scale than you. I changed because I wasn't hitting them well and had lost all confidence in them.

Obviously a bad swing is a bad swing so I struggled at first with the 850s, but having the confidence that the fitting gave me is huge. Right now I've never hit anything so well
