New John Lewis Christmas Advert

Not as good as the Boxer dog on the trampoline. 😃

Does the ad work?
Will we all be spending our cash at John Lewis?
Or are we just getting heart warming cuddles from it?

I don't get it. Its poor in my opinion. Although obviously working as they announced they have sold out of the night lights already.

It has put John Lewis into our consciousness, that is what advertisers want. It also gives people a positive, warm view of the company. The opposite of Ryanair for example.

The genius of John Lewis is that today for example they are getting huge amounts of free advertising as the launch has now become a feature of Christmas itself.

I'm sure they would not do it if the figures did not add up.

How long before we see an article in which a woman (complete with standard Daily Mail sadface) is complaining that the advert has caused her children to be scared of going to bed in case a monster is lurking beneath??

Genuinely, I don't get it!?! Can't see what the message is suppose to be (or isn't there one?)

Best one was a few years back with the young lad who was counting down the days to Christmas and was really frustrated. When it turned to be Christmas he ran past his presents and grabbed one he'd made and gave it to his Mam and Dad. I thought that was lovely!

I just don’t get this whole Heart warming thing.
It’s an advertisement & to say it warms the heart is a bit sickly imo.

What a miserable bunch you lot are.

Boy is afraid of idea of monster under the bed

Boy finds a monster under his bed

Boy gets used to monster

Boy becomes friend with monster

Monster gets boy a Christmas present

Present makes boy no longer afraid of imaginary monster under the bed

Does that explain it for you?

I'm getting more mince pies in and will happily watch this and the Paddington advert with a warm, cosy feeling inside. The rest of you who don't get it can stay miserable :ears:

Spot on - seems these days people would rather find more things to be miserable about that actually looking at something that might just raise a little smile

Far too many just whinging and moaning about so many first world problems and then moaning about others finding a bit of happiness.

I can’t wait for Xmas - going to be surrounded by loads of kids having fun and just smiling including my own - brilliant time of the year.
