I was a member of my old golf club for 30 years but I have now resigned and moved to another club. The last few years my golf has been poor my handicap has been going up & up so I need to get back to enjoying my golf again.

Thats going to be quite a big change I would think. Good for you to jump in and make a change to freshen things up.

I am in the same boat - nearly 40 years with the same club (since I was a tot) but not playing enough means its time for a change. I have been thinking about this for a couple of years now. The subs are circa £1,700 and playing around 25 times a year does not make sense.

I am looking for a membership where I can use a credit system and still retain a handicap. Hever looks a good bet and is a decent track. We must all enjoy our golf! :)

While its a big decision I would agree that the enjoyment factor is paramount - after all thats what we do it for.

I think that a fresh start will do you good mate - hope it works out well for you.

Does your present club not have a discount deal available when your 65, because of your years of membership , and would you lose your right to it if you left. If your not enjoying your golf there I suppose money doesn't matter. best of luck.:one: What about all your playing buddies will you not miss them.

just curious as to why you think a new club will make you enjoy your golf more ? what has changed at your old club , can it not be reversed ?

Big step and best of luck with it , hope you get the enjoyment back

assumed you have moved either to or from Irvine Bogside? tough course usually in great condition, nice clubhouse also.

I left Bogside because over the last few years I have not been getting value for money. I am an outspoken type of guy always have been but I like to think there was always reason and logic behind any suggestion I made. Sometimes you get it wrong but over the years I think there have been more plus's than minuses. I reported a P/Captains a couple of years ago and after month's the committee took no action infact I nearly got band myself this left a very sour taste. I should have left then but I tried to put it behind me and move on. Bogside is a wonderful course great friendly clubhouse but not the club I joined all those years ago.

Sorry you have left Bill, you will certainly be missed. I am sure you will not be short of invites back, you may be going but make your stay short ;)

I joined Ravenspark I know a lot of the members the 2 clubs are only a couple of hundred yards apart it is the local municipal course. Cheers Alan I had to move for my own sanity.Very dissapointed that I had to be out by the 31st Dec having paid fees till the end of March.

You should be looking for a refund then, you've paid for a set amount off time. Even if your not renewing it after that time.

That was a bit strange, there was an email came out saying as much last year. I think the fees are for January to December but historically you never paid them until after the Agm. Enjoy your golf at Ravenspark.:)

that sounds familiar and sympathise, it really bugs the crap out of me when someone who has supported the club for that length of time and seen changes thru out that time and should be a valued member and listened to by committees, just being disregarded by jumped up 'I'm on the committee A holes'. I'm similar to you, outspoken and committees don't really like it, I left a club because I tried my best to help the club with suggestions and all it achieved was to wind me up and had an adverse affect on my golf.

Go to your new club and just concentrate on your golf game and enjoy that.

Never a particularly thing to need to do - nor a good reason!

Hope you enjoy the new environment though - and enjoy your Golf!
