I've moved 3 times over the years....it never gets any easier does it.

This time I've got a removals firm doing the hard work of the actual move when the day comes, but all the hassle of changing addresses, insurances, utilities is just such a bore.

And I've just seen my car insurance is going UP by over £200 per year even though the mileage is halving!

Such fun.

We’ve been similar over the last few years, we’ve managed to get as much done as possible using our own motor as stayed reasonably local. Next time we’ve got decisions to make as it’ll be a 2000mile round trip so a bit much to keep loading and dropping off (plus tunnel or ferries)!

The last time I moved house I told all the people concerned and they were all fine and took my new address over the phone except one (I think it was my car insurance)
They said I had to fill out a form.
Ok, where do I get the form from
We'll send it to you. What's your new address so we can send you the form?

Was easier than I thought it would be.

Putting aside all the moving day stuff as we had special circumstances I did all the address change stuff online in an evening. Only the bank needed me to drop in and some others took a while to do bits at their end (gas/leccy not billing me for ages) and I had to reconfirm with them a few times. Initially however it was just a few emails and an online form.

Forwarding my post for a year was the best thing I did, meant I could catch anything missed very easily.

Make lists of post you receive in advance of the move and how to change address would be my other advice as you may not know the new house address in advance. Once you do know kick off any processes in advance if you can.

Plan, prepare, do, check

If we’re playing top trumps, my wife and I have moved 21 times thanks to our Forces past. We will only be moving out of this one when we are carried out in a box.

I'll undercut you

Same house for 34 years and if goes the way I want I will leave by the same method.

I can Top Trump that. We move on the 7th Dec. 32nd move in 62 years. That does include the moves made when still at home with my parents. I'd like to think it will be our last one but I fear I have the same gene as my dad...

I am in the process of moving, lost my buyer on Tuesday, got a ne won Weds, lost him this morning, got another one tonight. Haven't moved in 20 years, hating the whole process, absolute nightmare

I work with a guy who’s in his 50s and he’s literally lived in the same house since the day he was born, and intends to finish his days there too. Imagine missing out on the hassle of moving house but not appreciating it because you don’t know what it’s like.
