Hi,

I guess this might have been answered before - I did a search but with no joy.

I'm in the process of moving clubs but want to still be a member of the old club for another year.

What is the usual process of the transfer of my handicap from one to another? Are there set procedures? Does it depend on the Club A that currently holds my handicap or Club B my new club?
Will my CDH number stay the same?
I want the new club to be my home club by the way.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Tell both clubs which you want to be your home club and they will sort it between them. CDH number stays the same.

As per this post. Then the administrator can log into the system, IG in my case, and confirm to the CDH database which is the home club.

Make sure that both clubs know what exactly they are supposed to do and when.
Too many club secs make a hash of it.

Thanks for the replies. The new club use IG but the old one don't.
I have emailed the old club's handicap secretary letting him know what I want. I'll see what happens in a few days. As it is, I cannot enter any comps but that is not a problem as there aren't many at this time of the year.

The fact that the clubs use different software is irrelevant, synchronising of handicaps is done through your CDH Number.

Why do you say you can't enter any comps? Do you mean at your new (yet to join) club?

I have joined the new club, but when on log into IG app, my CDH number is there but not handicap, so I assumed I could not enter any comps untill my handicap is available. It is an assumption on my part, I may be wrong.

The fact that the two clubs' systems have not caught up with each other shouldn't make any difference. You have a legitimate CONGU handicap. Your details won't catch up until both clubs have done their bit.
Have you registered with England Golf Members' Benefits? You might be able to see which club is dragging its heels.

If your new club's IG have your CDH number and have you set up as a Home Club player, then your current handicap should show up as soon as they upload to CDH. A common problem, however, occurs when your old club has not set you up on their system as Away Player. What happens next is that you will yo-yo between the 2 clubs until they both have you correctly shown on both systems.

I am registered with England Golf and in there it is still show my old club as my home club and no mention of the new club. But as some have said, I guess it is a matter of waiting for systems to catch up/synch before anything. So long as it does prevent me palying in comps, which sounds like it shouldn't, then I'll just wait.

Your old club need to release you first

A new club cannot take your HC from your old club until they let CDH know you have left there.

It can take a bit of time to ripple through but I would keep on top of it if I were you. You could email the handicap sec of your new club and ask for an update of where you are in the mill.
