My favourite bit of golf kit seems to be getting better.
I've had the Motocaddy S3 digital trolley for a year and it is (in my opinion) the dog's danglies.
Imagine my astonishment when i opened the latest copy of a rival magazine (TG - Boo! Hiss!) to see pictures of the new model for this year - The S5.
Comes complete with a GPS unit built in to the handle of the trolley. The child-like gagdet freak inside me wants to buy one as soon as they are available but the sensible part of my brain which controls my actions knows that I can't spend another £400 on a trolley after the last episode.

I'll just need to hope that Motocaddy bring out an upgrade kit for the S3 in time for my birthday in June :D

.....and before anyone says it, I know I could buy any number of GPS units and mount them on my existing trolley but that's not the point!
James Bond doesn't take his Aston Martin down Halfords to retro fit a set of lairy alloy wheels. Gadgets need to be uber-cool straight out of the box. End of.

Edit - an article and pics have been on the GM website since October - http://www.golf-monthly.co.uk/galleries/8170/1/3/motocaddy-s5-gps.html - Well done guys!
My bad for not spotting it - 4 months ago. :o

I am in the same boat, I have and love my S3 but would love GPS. I would certainly be in line for a S5 upgrade if it was not too expensive.

PS my S3 has over 200 miles in one year and I carry when wet and all winter - still as good as new.

Never mind an upgrade kit for the S3, I'd like one for my S1.

Though to be honest after having the S1 for a couple of years now, I think an upgrade to the full S5 might be an option anyway. Not sure what My S1 would be worth as a trade in, or second hand.

Thing is all depends on how good the onboard satnav is & if I'm not using the trolley during winter & carrying the satnav on the trolly would be sitting somewhere other than I would be standing.

The GPS in the S5 is the Sureshot one. The standalone GPS costs about £200. From what I've heard its ok but doesn't show and shape of the course. It can also record stats for you.

Only issue I can see here is as Cernunnos says - If there's a trolley ban or you forget the battery etc, you'll need to do without your GPS unless you've got an additional one. And the cost. Espspecially if your trolley is newish. Are they doing an upgrade? I would have thought they'll try to entice you to buy the S5 rather than fit a new piece on to the S3.
