I bought a motocaddy trolley in December - an Xmas present - it came with a £50 cashback offer.

Took it out of the box today for the first time to find the serial number and claim on the cashback. Turns out that in the small print of that offer it states the cashback had to be claimed within 14 days and it's now been 25 days or so since the purchase.

Motocaddy refuse to budge - apparently I should have known about the 14 days as it was on their website and the fact it was sitting in the box with all the other Xmas pressies doesn't matter.

Clearly, I don't have a leg to stand on but I believe they have been quite disingenuous with this promotion and the response demonstrates a very poor customer service ethos.

I know that some other trolley manufacturers have a good reputation on here for customer service so sounds like there are better options out there than Motocaddy.

Be careful it doesnt break out of warranty, one of the worst customer services departments Ive ever had to deal with!!!!

Yes, I've similar experiences with them, their customer service approach and attitude is a defenite ZERO rating
The worst I've ever dealt with, in any consumer area

So I'm not at all surprised with the op

I'd be absolutely pissed off if I was you Karen and would seriously consider doing what Drive4Show suggests, however, I think the thread title is a bit unfair, Motocaddy haven't actually done anything wrong, just being miserable gits.

Their customer service is shocking, mine broke in warranty and they came back to American Golf saying they were not fixing it as it had been submerged in water!! When buying it I did ask if it was ok using in the rain over winter but it wasn't that wet that would make it look the same as if I put it in a pond. A.G covered the cost for it getting fixed.

Disagree Paul, it's not like I'm taking the piss and trying to claim months after the purchase, just a few days beyond the period in their small print. I managed to buy the thing knowing about the cashback but not the 14 day window. Would have been the easiest thing in the world for them to authorise under the circumstances, and I was very reasonable in my request that they do so. I'm genuinely surprised that a large company like that has such poor customer service to refuse to entertain the suggestion. So I think the thread title is fair and the OP is a measured synopsis of the circumstances. Some might say it's my fault for not checking the details, I wouldn't argue, but I also think a more flexible approach would have been appropriate.

And as I put I would be angry and trying to get back at them someway, however, these big Companies put these offers on and if they relax them for you 11 days late, were do they draw the line, I would genuinely look ar D4S suggestion, if it's inused and boxed you get 28 days for a full refund, walk out, walk back in, buy it again and then get the £50.00, then email and explain you won.

Can you not return it to the retailler along the lines of "bought as a present...and they got 2"? Most companies soften their line at this time of year . Then if successful, go by a GoKart....their customer service beats nearly everyone.

Terrible sounding service. I'd try another polite mail to customer services, and then maybe via social media. I think Go Kart are one of the best examples of how customer service should be. I would be looking to take it back to place of purchase and maybe as someone else suggested trying the "I got two for Christmas" line

I didn't buy it online so it's not returnable, unless it's broken, or the retailer takes pity on me.

It's poor customer service in my opinion but the facts are there for others to decide if that's a fair description or not.

The offer was clearly a bit of a con - people buy these for presents which then sit unopened at this time of year, as mine did. I doubt I'll be the only person to fall foul of it.

I also am attempting to take advantage of said same cashback offer. I did ring them as I got it on xmas eve and noticed the 14 day deadline. So I asked them if that was extendable over the Christmas period as basically they were closed until something like the 4th Jan. Plus the Christmas post and all that. And the reply I got was they they would 'take that into account'.

Have not got any acknowledgment back yet that I will get my cash back but hope I will as it should have got there in the 14 day period.

In fairness to Motocaddy, I had a problem with mine shortly after it had run out of warranty and despite being told that they would just say tough, , they did in fact agree to fix it without cost to me.

I'm really surprised at their stance on this. You would think that in this day and age that Motocaddy could make a,"Goodwill gesture", for a very reasonable request.

Shame on you Motocaddy!
