Motocaddy charger blip.

My Motocaddy 36 hole battery always takes between 3 & 3½ hours to charge. Last night, after 5 hours the light was still on red. I switched it off & this morning put it on for ½ an hour & the green light came on.

Can anyone please explain what might have happened?
