A GOLF course is finally set to welcome players on to its fairways – 10 years after it was constructed.
Torrance Park, which lies between Newarthill and Holytown, is owned by a company run by Rangers chairman David Murray.
Although construction work was completed around a decade ago, the clubhouse wasn't built on cost grounds and the course never opened.
The developers had banked on selling adjacent ground for luxury housing to finance the project.
However, although North Lanarkshire Council was keen for houses to be built, the Scottish Government insisted the land around the golf course must remain greenbelt.
The Government then changed its mind and said houses would be allowed, but no building can begin until the clubhouse is constructed.
The course will open on Saturday, August 1.
Anyone from this area know if this is true???
